Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton - Reviews & Ratings"We enjoyed every moment" (108276944)
Incredible location - wonderfully spacious room - a feeling of old-fashioned luxury
Rather delapidated here and there - the ceiling in the bathroom about to come down - and not a lot of hot water - but actually none of it really mattered because the overall atmosphere was so great - we are most certainly coming back!

Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton - Reviews & Ratings"Adequate for short stay." (108772238)
Friendly staff
water kept going off, not more than 30 seconds, but could be annoying. Mattress felt lumpy. Lighting far too dim. Lift too small, often got too much weight announcement. Buffet configuration needs to be re planned, queues far too long. Suggest you have the hot and cold drinks separately. scrambled eggs floating in water! Didn't use on second morning.

Only good point was bookign through active hotels.
The hotel was of bad quality given that the costs were of 5 star, wardrobe doors were hanging off etc and had to book a minimum of 7 nights when some of my bookings were only for 1-2 nights.

Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton - Reviews & Ratings"Very poor " (108147351)
Friendly staff and good location.
The room had sufferred from damp and a poor attempt had been made to seal the wall. The salts had come through the plaster and the flakes and powder from the plaster where along the edge of the carpet. The room was not cleaned with a vaccum cleaner when we were there. The tv remote was faulty and the tv could not be controlled correctly - this fault must have occurred some time before as the front panel of the tv had been removed to gain access to teh volume and channel controls. The room was one used for smokers and non smokers and had an electronic air freshener which did not work and had not been changed for some time. Breakfast on the weekend was chaotic. We struggled to find a clean table and ended up sharing with other guests. The room was extremelly noisy both from other guests and staff who when they had gone off duty must have had a room nearby as they stayed up until 5am talking and singing.

Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton - Reviews & Ratings"Great location and view. Enjoyed our stay. " (108453021)
Great view (apart from the scaffolding which we were pre-warned about)
Lack of towel in bathroom - didn't realise it was stored in wardrobe. Noisy road nearby. Full double-glazing would be a great benefit.

Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton - Reviews & Ratings"Not a very good experience overall. Staff in the breakfast hall looked tired and unmotivated. Tables were not cleaned straight away to allow another lot of guests to sit down. Coffee and tea jugs were often empty. " (107558656)
Good welcome at the reception.
*dirty bathroom panel *window frame kept in place using sellotape *bed sheet too small to fit the sagging mattress *curtains dirty and missing hooks *punched in bathroom door *shower screen would not stay in place during use causing water to leak *stained carpet

Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton - Reviews & Ratings"If refurbishment continues this will be a great hotel. HOWEVER: If our bed had been better we would have had a much more enjoyable stay. Just a new mattress would have solved everything. All the other bad points we could have lived with." (108913351)
Great position in town. Friendly helpful staff. Good view of the sea. Breakfast was nice.
The lift was not working, we were on the 4th floor and had a 4 month old baby + buugy etc to cope with. Our bed was small and EXTREMELY uncomfortable, and no cot was provided although requested in advance and assured it was available in our room. I was too tired to request one once we were ready for bed. The breakfast area was very cramped and busy. However I believe the hotel was full.

Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton - Reviews & Ratings"For the very inexpensive cost and excellent location it was very good value for money. I would not bother to stay in sea view room though. I managed to get a parking space outside which although expensive was convenient for loading luggage etc." (107368498)
very good breakfast with a wide choice of food.Very good location. Very cheap and good value for money particularly for one or two night stays.
Sea view room had poor standard of furniture, bathroom and uncomfortable bed r compared to cheaper room without a view which was much nicer and had been modernised more recently. Flaking paint on windows and radiator cover hanging off reveiling thick dust. Musty smell to sea view room.

Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton - Reviews & Ratings"OK" (107816160)
very central, good value at price paid, £37 for double room would be very bad value at full price
although I did ask for a quiet room, rather noisy as overlooking old steine and only single glazed. The male check-in clerk was unhelpful (hence low score). Breakfast barely adequate, ingredients too cheap (sausages, canned tomatoes! bread, coffee) - penny pinching

Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton - Reviews & Ratings"If I was younger and part of a stag or hen party, then this room would have been perfect as I would needed not worry about messing it up with my drunken friends. For one night ‘out on the lash’ the standard of the room would have made no difference. This wasn’t the cheapest accommodation on my initial shortlist. Next time I will be opting for a smaller boutique hotel. " (107631803)
The view was stunning
There room was in obvious need of renovation and redecoration. It was dirty - there was what seemed to be cheese up the wall, as if a food fight had taken place. There was what appeared to be blood over the shower head and down the wall and a fist size hole in the bathroom door.

Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton - Reviews & Ratings"Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definatly be returning in the near future when we next vist Brighton." (107979440)
I thought the bathroom was lovely in our room and we were very grateful for supplying us with more tea and coffee when we asked. The ground floor was lovely with a pretty reception room, nice bar and resturant and gorgeous conservertory located in the bar area
There were only a few bad points, one being that the shower head wasnt very clean and the second, the mattress could have been a little softer.

Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton - Reviews & Ratings"Although the hotel is mainly for older guests, I think the noise of an evening from the nightclub maybe a reason not to stay here, I was happy with the breakfast which i thought was adequate for the price, the hotel does need more refurbishment though ,which it seems to be having at the moment, maybe double glazing will be put into the rooms then hopefully." (107999950)
warm room, food ok ,nice views from lounge of the sea and pier good location for buses, shops, beach etc
noise from nightclub close by, and traffic ,even though on the 4th floor, could do with double glazing. One small lift for lots of people could do with another one perhaps.

The breakfast was lovely and the facilities in the room were good.
The draws were mainly broken, we werent told that we could find spare pillows or towels in the wardrobe. I found the staff were miserable and rude. When i ordered the room i paid for a room with a sea view and i got a road view.

Royal Albion Hotel, Brighton - Reviews & Ratings"I used to work in hotels so I am familiar with the trade - Specifically being polite to your GUESTS! I stay in hotels as part of my job and I will admit this is probably one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. The manager really needs to train his/her staff in being more welcoming and helpful, this is paramount in any hotel as its supposed to be a pleasent stay." (97975749)
Not many good points to be honest, the room was clean and breakfast in the morning was ok. The location is the only good thing going about this hotel and would be so much more popular if it has a re-furb.
Staff were rude, patronising and generally didn't want to be there. The staff in the mornings were obviously hungover as they were blunt and one lady was rude to me as I was after some coffee (They had ran out) I mentioned this to the duty manager. I was booked into the wrong room and had to have it changed, the lounge area overlooking the sea front was really poor for such a prime location. Also - ONE LIFT FOR 185 ROOMS??? What flagged this was on Sunday, a coach full of elderly people arrived with luggage. I went out for lunch and they were STILL trying to get up to their rooms!

"After being moved due to heating problems in the first room - our stay was absolutely fabulous." (108272574)
In 2nd room - cleanliness, privacy, view, jacuzzi
In 1st room - cold, light all night from hotel frontage Staff didn't seem too forward with information - eg. how to book evening meal.
