very comfortable room, bright clean and very spacious, didn't have a great deal of time with staff , but found receptionist very polite and friendly. cleanliness exceptional
Due to food allergies,( wheat / dairy) found continental breakfast not suitable cold boiled eggs , cold meat and ryvita. would have been a welcome alternative

Reception staff on duty when we checked in were fantastic in their enthusiasm and friendliness. Room and bathroom were scrupulously clean and we liked the layout of the hotel reception bar and breakfast room area. Low cost and Continental breakfast included........
Could not confirm non smoking double room on internet. When we arrived we had been allocated a smoking twin room. We were lucky and got a recent cancellation for a non smoking double as we checked in. Advised by staff to call to have booking preferences confirmed if use of a twin or smoking room was to prove problematic.

Clean easy to find, breakfast included.
1 x Broken plug socket in room, Desk lamp only operates when main light is on!!! Rather frustrating when trying to work and not wake your room mate. Internet far to expensive, especially considering its free in Mcdonalds 200m away!!

Good food, but very overpriced. Bar prices far too high. A mix up with the rooms we'd ordered when we booked in, but the Receptionist sorted it out for us.

Excellent value for money. Also apprecieted the hotel being dog friendly,as we had a Chow with us.
How to get to hotel details on the Internet were vastly out of date, (2 new reoundabuouts had been built since they were posted!) which resulted in us wasting over 1 hour trying to find the place!

I had a plac e to stay overight near my next appointment.
I didn't like having a room with such a small window. It was very high and had no view. It felt a bit like a prison cell (not that I have ever stayed in one!. Also the menu was very limited and the Burger option I chose was VERY poor. At £8.50 I would have done better to go to MacDonalds. When you stay away from home, the evening meal is somtimes the high point of the day. In this instance it was a low point and was eaten with grim deturmination rather than pleasure.

Clean, reasonably spacious room. Very comfortable bed. Quiet. Pleasant helpful staff.
Perhaps for a longer stay the small bar/lounge area would have felt inadequate.

Hotel was clean and everyting worked
I had booked a room with sofa bed but got only 1 double bed. The internet booking form was inadequate. Staff sorted this out after a bit of persuasion. Second room was no smoking but still stank of stale smoke.

Well placed for access to the town - Very helpful staff
Unfortunately some of the guests decided to continue their holiday into the night, a lot of banging around after midnight and on one night until 3.30am

The continental breakfast was adequate although a true continental would have included cooked meats etc. The set up for the breakfast was not very good - it was not obvious where the hot water for tea was - many guests were bemused looking for it. The arrangement was not logical ie teabags and cups were at one end, the hot water towards the other end and then the milk was back at the other end and was the same milk for cereals. This meant that guests were dodging out of each others way." (97436478)

However, If customer service and choice are a priority for you I would recommend shopping around. Having used other hotels in Scotland regularly over recent months I wrongly presumed that the level of customer service and value for money were much the same wherever a person stayed. This is not the case and when considering where to stay I would advise looking more closely at exactly what is offered by your choice of hotel. Unfortunately experience is sometimes the only way to be sure, as advertisements can be misleading." (99007115)
It was clean and basic which are the necessities of a hotel used by people like me (on Business).
Staff work out of an office behind the bar which means that there is not always somebody visible and available to customers, this is not very customer friendly. The menu was five items on a chalk board with no obvious alternative for dining in the near vacinity. The drinks were expensive. There was very little choice for breakfast and I did not see a member of hotel staff the whole time that I was eating breakfast!? Other hotels with cheaper rates in the area seat you, constantly ask if you are okay, there is more choice and the cost for a nights stay is less.

there wasnt a bath in the room although the shower was a nice one

Very clean, tidy, warm and pleasant stay.
Internet not WiFi, its plug in, plus it cost a minimum of £7.00 whatever, and I only needed 1 minute of time for emails. It should be Free for a set time like 10 mins. Breakfast was poor in my view.
