"good. would say again after builders work completed and no scaffolding to obstruct the view." (108437036)

clean hotel. freindly helpfull staff. good breakfast.not too near yet not too far from main attractions.

hotel having builders work done on the front elevation of the hotel and had scaffolding erected. this some-what spoilt an other wise enjoyabe visit. i think we should have been informed prior to booking.

    "Rubbish" (108113640)

    none come to mind, sorry

The taste in style and colour of the room was little to be desired. Should have taken my sunglasses to sleep in. PLEASE check out the double SUPERIOR room. Illumious green is soo not my colour. Wondered why the bedrooms where not shown when I booked online. Could not get a smile out of any of the staff members.

"Er.. average. Very expensive for what it was. 90 quid, for one night in Southend. I'm in the wrong business.." (107372640)

    Attentive staff

Room was awful. Whoever owns the hotel needs to buy some interior decorating magazines. Lime green patterned curtains, cheap furniture, looked liked my Gran's house... yuk !!

    "pleasant" (107500618)

Willingness to upgrade us - although aware this was because of availability - I didnt realise I had booked a "back room". The internet booking was a little misleading in this respect re clarifying the difference

Dirty cup - had to be changed and initial standard room adequate but a bit claustrophobic with view of pipes outside.

"Small seaside hotel / guesthouse. Very clean and the breakfast could be as big or small as you wanted, good quality food. Not luxury standard but very comfortable and the standard you would expect from this type of star rated establishment" (107913879)

Absolutely nothing to complain about, quality of everything very much in line with what we were led to expect. Very clean

None really, the bar was a little pricey

"overall we were very impressed and would recommend the hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Southend " (107400980)

the hotel was very comfortable and staff friendly and helpful - it was in a very good location (and unusually from our experience, with ample free parking!)and was excellent value overall - we would definitely use the hotel again when visiting Southend

the only criticism was that the people in the room above us were extremely noisy for most of the night and other guests walking past late and talking loudly and banging doors also disturbed our sleep - there is not a lot the hotel could do now about these problems other than improve the sound proofing between rooms when building was carried out and I don't know how feasable that would be to alter now.

    "Quite pleasant." (107327738)

Excellent food in the Restaurant and Breakfast

Poor sound insulation between rooms, breakfast waiting staff seemed to be unaware when crockery or glasses ran out during the breakfast buffet. Also - it would be nice if the hotel offered food at lunchtimes.

"Pleasant retreat but extraordinary there was no dinner service on Sunday" (107452772)

excellent response when I encountered a problem with an external padlock to my suitcase and needed to fit it around personal needs

Extraordinarily slow service at dinner and a complete inability to obtain a daily aper. If you are going to offer that service and the newsagent fails, then you get your own staff down there and bring it in. If not, then don't offer the service,

"When arrived was greeted very well which unfortutanetly not the case by different staff later on in the week and at check out." (107571008)

The Breakfast room and bar is very well decorated and clean and the location free parking is also very good.

There was a very limited choice of breakfast cereal and also the bed matress seems "tired".

"Poor experience has led to change in hotel." (107864365)

    Cheap

Room too cold. Plastic cover over matress. Complete confusion over booking - no clarity if I had a room reserved or not even though I received confirmation through the internet.

    "Great" (107562846)

Room was really nice, big, clean and comfortable. Bathroom was totally new refurbished. Staff was very friendly. Very good English breakfast. Situation is great, just by the seaside. I loved the old style bed.

The bar was a bit expensive. We paid £3 for a bottle of water. Also there was only two small soap

Breakfast was great! Room was standard as expected, with no problems at all. The free tea and coffee was a welcome thing for arrival. Very quick positive response when I requested a late checkout of 1 hour more.

No satellite tele (I think this was advertised)...tele was very small too.

When checking in with my partner, passing comment made by member of staff which i felt showed no discrection on their part. Could have been a problem but luckily we saw the funny side of it.

Good breakfast - sausages and bacon you would have bought for yourself, real (not tinned) tomatoes. Room very clean and spruce.

Not really "bad" but the bed bordered on the orthopaedic!

"we had a lovely time." (108085778)

the room was clean, if a little small and the staff were very polite.

breakfast was a little disappointing as it was cooked in bulk, not cooked to your specification. what was served tasted good enough, and there was quite a choice, but i prefer my food cooked as and when.
