The George Hotel, Edinburgh - Reviews & Ratings"The hotel and the amenities were excellent. We were very pleased with our stay." (108925154)
Very centrally located. Good ambiance.
Television and Internet facilities very poor. The TV channels were totally inadeuate - there was no international TV coverage at all. Although we paid for the Intenet service, the service was not available in the room at all. This needs to be looked into as we live in a world where communication is essential

The George Hotel, Edinburgh - Reviews & Ratings"Was lovely hotel. Staff seemed nice, if not busy! Would stay there again." (108830594)
Room was lovely, well serviced everyday. Wasn't located overlooking the street so heard no noise from the road outside. Great location, very central.
Reception very busy, onkly two staff members at it when there was a queue of about 10 people. Didn't get to check out properly or speak to anyone before we left as was in the queue for half an hour and had to go as was getting a plane.

room had no view and was very noisy, mainly due to rubbish collection directly outside window. Breakfast service was not great - too few staff.

The George Hotel, Edinburgh - Reviews & Ratings"What a hotel should feel like, old building with great architecture, rooms that feel like hotel rooms and not like a chain. Pleasant and attentive staff. Excellent location, easy to find from Waverley station and on the same street as great restaurants and bars. Ideal location for everything really." (108229105)
Comfy bed, great shower, little noise from other guests. Cool reading lamps. Excellent location, you felt right in the heart of things.
Our room was on the ground floor facing out onto another building, not the best of views so if staying next time we may ask for a different room. The discarded boxer shorts, durex wrapper and pair of tights on the roof of the building outside our window was an especially nice touch in what was otherwise a great hotel. Even after hearing what sounded like hotel staff outside the window early on Sunday morning, the items were still there afterwards.

The George Hotel, Edinburgh - Reviews & Ratings"Quite unsatisfactory." (107893883)
Only ne from what we experienced: location for shopping at better stores.
We first had a postage-size room with no air conditioning. We had to upgrade two levels to get a room with air conditioning. Our room was above the hotel's nightclub and the loud music didn't end until early morning hours. We got little sleep. Such amenities as bathrobes and even Kleenex in the bathroom were not present.

The George Hotel, Edinburgh - Reviews & Ratings"Hotel was clean and of a high standard and our room and ensuite had recently been upgraded (hotel has just undergone a refit). Staff were friendly and helpful when enquiring about car parking locally. The only downside to the hotel was that there was no parking but there was an NCP carpark close by that offered a 20% discount when staying at the hotel and our car felt very safe parked there for the duration of our stay. Overall a great hotel and a perfect location for seeing what Edinburgh has to offer." (107853872)
Great location. Less than a five minute walk from Princess St and tour buses if there for a sightseeing holiday.
No car parking on site - very helpful staff though and discounted parking available off site

The George Hotel, Edinburgh - Reviews & Ratings"disappointing, despite the excellent location in George Street - 4 star prices but not 4 star service" (107848382)
location, comfort of bed
had asked for two adjacent rooms so that our teenage children were nearby; the rooms we were allocated were on different floors and involved a convoluted journey; we managed to move rooms. Saturday morning we were woken at 7.50am by drilling in the room above which was being renovated; Saturday evening (admittedly a busy time after International Rugby Match) we were told we could have coffee in the lobby but it would take 25 minutes to come; breakfast very moderate with poor service - we had to clear our dirty dishes off the table to make space when we came back from the buffet; staff were rather indifferent and inattentive; newly renovated room had poor lighting especially in bathroom

The George Hotel, Edinburgh - Reviews & Ratings"Good stay at hotel. One point however, I was not reminded that breakfast was included. When I made the booking on line it said there was a charge. However on check out it stated on the bill that breakfast was included. As a result I did not get a chance to sample the excellent breakfast." (107837360)
Excellent Staff friendly and helpful. Fantastic food.
Room noisy with heater fan and drafty with the windows.

The George Hotel, Edinburgh - Reviews & Ratings"Very nice hotel, staff efficent, room was excellent. Very clean. A little bit annoyed that the iron ruined a new shirt but i didnt have time to complain at the time. We would definately stay again. And would like to eat in the hotel next time we stay. We will be back." (107854963)
large room. Large bed. very comfy. very clean. Our room had just been recently renovated.
The iron although new managed to spray out brown water which ruined a new white shirt i tried to iron. There were some loud noises, drills and hammering in the morning. around 9am. Which was a bit annoying as we were trying to have a lye in.

The George Hotel, Edinburgh - Reviews & Ratings"Very nice stay and would recommend to others" (107348308)
Staff were very friendly and helpful, room was well equipped, warm and tidy with nice television.
Window was not double glazed so rattled during the windy weather, room was slightly on the small side, breakfast table was also slightly small to fit plates on, some bowls were not as clean as they should be and breakfast fried eggs were displayed in pan and not on a tray.

The George Hotel, Edinburgh - Reviews & Ratings"I would not stay again unless I was assured to be well away from any noisey machinery." (107416707)
overall standard good
there is some form of airconditioning machine outside this room which makes a constant noise and as a result does not allow you to sleep at night. this should be attended too and noise reduced as a priority.

The George Hotel, Edinburgh - Reviews & Ratings"Very good. Note that reservation was over the phone, not online" (107267824)
Breakfast should be included in the price. Colleagues got the continental breakfast for about GBP 10.00 if paid in advance at checkin. I was not informed about this when checking in, so had to pay the regular price of about GBP 13:50. I found morning papers were not complimentary, which is normally the case at a US hotel. So, initially got charged for two mornings before cancelling it.

Lovely room and the lobby had a beautiful decor. It had a restaurant/cafe in the hotel. It was in a great location.
The toilet wasn't working properly. I was also disturbed early the first day at 7:30 am by housekeeping trying to get in the room.

The George Hotel, Edinburgh - Reviews & Ratings"It was fine for one night but wouldn't want to stay longer." (97732968)
Excellent staff and wonderful breakfast.
Noisy room at front of hotel. Lack of quiet bar for residents. Tempus noisy, busy and unsuitable for leisurely, sociable drink with friends after great evening out!
