Grand Western The Connaught Hotel, Wolverhampton - Reviews & Ratings"I was doing a computer conference in the hotel and the bar was very nice and they had free internet but not fast free internet" (108615792)
The shower room was brand new. The breakfast was included. They had staff that know the local area
There are a lot of stairs going up and down several flights of stairs to get to the room

Grand Western The Connaught Hotel, Wolverhampton - Reviews & Ratings"Hotel accommodation had minimal affect on my trip which was ideal." (108399754)
Cheap, and was the venue for the event I was attending (OggCamp).
Key cards are unreliable and were frequently required to be re-programmed over the weekend.

Grand Western The Connaught Hotel, Wolverhampton - Reviews & Ratings"forunately a discounted offer was got costing £35 prpn. which is the only reason this stay was adequte. However the cleanliness of the bathroom was unacceptable at any level!!!" (108369748)
Service was good, staff friendliness was very good
Bathroom was bad, the water was brown and the bath dirty, human excrement and toilet paper left in the toilet where it had not been flushed. Whilst full english breakfast adequate for cost portions were small.

Grand Western The Connaught Hotel, Wolverhampton - Reviews & Ratings"I have stayed at this hotel before and have to say I was disappointed this time. The only reason I would stay at this hotel again is because it is where I attend a company conference." (108275026)
on the whole the hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful.
It was surprising to find the resturant closed on the friday evening, brown hot water from the taps/shower, room needed decorating, slow bar service. quality of food available for breakfast/Lunch was not very good.

Grand Western The Connaught Hotel, Wolverhampton - Reviews & Ratings"Very basic no luxury " (108463629)
Good value for just somewhere to sleep
Rooms very basic, had to request maintenance to bleed the radiator as making terrible noises and rooms far too hot. Staff in the bar very very slow. Also got charged for some extra drinks that we had not been signed for.

Grand Western The Connaught Hotel, Wolverhampton - Reviews & Ratings"Really looking forward to our visit because our recent visits to Best Western had always been excellent. My major concern was the signage in the hotel." (108595759)
Hotel was very clean and well situated for the event we where attending
We had 2 x pensioners in our group and had requested a ground floor room, on arrival I was directed to an area that I assume was the ground floor room for my parents, I followed the directions from the receptionist and left my partner at reception. On entry through a swipe door I was aware that I could not get back to the reception, I can only describe the next 15 minutes as traumatising, my parents room was found to be on the 3rd floor!!! I was still unable to gain egress for this location of the hotel, there was minimal signage and fortune had it, there was not a fire at the time, my partner at this time was still waiting in reception with our arrival bag distressed as to where I had got to with, new people arriving all the time, only the good grace of 2 visitors’ to the hotel did she calm down. I eventually found a way out, and approached the manager he listened to my issues and walked the route I had previously taken he himself at one time hesitated on direction. My parents where moved on his request to a first floor room.... exhausted.......The whole group by this time where ready to change hotels, only, we had driven for 2.5hrs and had to be at our event within 30 mins of arriving

friendliness of "new" receptionist
chaotic booking in system resulted in another guest walking into my room whilst I was in the bathroom - having been given the same room number key as I had!

Grand Western The Connaught Hotel, Wolverhampton - Reviews & Ratings"Excellent value for money. We will certainly recommend this hotel." (108643855)
Large, clean fluffy towels, hot water, tea/coffee making facilities and comfortable beds made for a very good stay after a long drive.
We booked on-line, which was very straight forward but it did not make clear that breakfast had to be booked along with the room in order to take advantage of reduced price breakfast. Only bad point.

Grand Western The Connaught Hotel, Wolverhampton - Reviews & Ratings"First impressions of the hotel were not favourable. Sat Nav directed me to the back of the hotel, the car park. A wedding party was in full swing and a number of young guests were sitting around in the car park, drinking and messing around. The disco was in full swing and quite loud - unfortunately our room was directly above this, the music being played was very loud. We were advised that this would cease @ around 12:30 which it more or less did. Room itself was spotless, with all working facilities, I was able to shower and freshen up. Clean towels were provided. Breakfast was fine and the staff were friendly. I'd say for £55 per night that it was good value for money. Common sense would dictate that the room I was allocated should have been reserved for the wedding guest party itself. " (107719062)
Late check in. Room clean and tidy. Coffee and tea making facilities fine. Working hairdrier and bathroon spotless. Cooked breakfast and attitude of staff very good. Onsite parking.
We arrived late 11:30pm and a wedding was underway. The room was directly above the party room, the noise making it difficult to relax. We were advised that no other rooms were available. At 4:30am a guest decided to hammer on the door of of one of the nearby rooms calling out the name of another guest, this went on for a full 5/10 mins until he was told in no uncertain terms he had the wrong room. Th TV from the adjoining room was on very loud, but as were tired, we decided against making a complaint.

The hotel was clean and the room was a very good size.
The decore was worn in places ie. the wall of the bathroom, the slant of the shelf above sink and no bath plug - all very minor things.

mostly helpful and courteous staff good car park
pigeons prevented window being left open one receptionist - rudely instructed me to sit and wait for 10 mins because she was busy little space to sit and chat in the lobby no porter offered - room was a long way from reception - no lift in that part of the building, stairs, firedoors and many turns en route.

good breakfast, comfy beds, good car park, close to city centre, friendly staff

Clean and quiet Booked us in when they had no record of my confirmed booking
Appallingly,THEY HAD NO RECORD OF MY RESERVATION EVEN THOUGH I HAD AN EMAIL CONFIRMING THE RESERVATION. It was lucky they had spare rooms as we did not arrive until 9.45pm and would have had a real problem if they were fully booked. Clearly the reservations system needs to be looked at as it doesn't work!

Grand Western The Connaught Hotel, Wolverhampton - Reviews & Ratings"We always use this Hotel when we stay in Wolverhampton but have not had a room at the front before. We will stay again next time we are in Wolverhampton." (107993404)
Hotel and staff excellent as usual.
Only bad point is we were on the front of the Hotel and traffic passes all night, it was a warm night so we had to leave the windows open. Next time we stay we will ask for a room at the back of the Hotel where it is quiet. Otherwise no problems.

Staff very friendly and helpful.
The hotels no smoking throughout policy meant a long trip from the fourth floor to the car park for the many guests at the reception who wished to smoke.

Clean and comfortable and good value. Staff friendly.
The organisation at Breakfast was dreadful, there was no organisation amongst the staff and many people were left waiting for quite some time. Bad layout of dinning room, needs a re-design.

The bar man was very helpful.
Felt like we were staying in a pigeon coop. When things at breakfast ran out they were not replenished very quickly as the waitress kept disappearing into the kitchen.

- I got charged more than 10 pound for every day I cstayed for 'breakfast' while I was alone and I did not consume a breakfast (and figured that out to late). This is an extreme crap service. - While registring online I was convinced I had shosen an option to get breakfast included in the night price, on checkin the staff informed me this was not tru and that I had to pay extra for the breakfast (what caused me not to take it)
