    "Reasonably comfortable and pleasant." (107487612)

Convenient location, close proximity to transport and restaurants etc.

Elevator was incredibly slow, but it was understood that a new elevator was to be installed in the short term. As experienced throughaout the UK, no airconditioning. The room was hot and stuffy, requiring the window to be opened which of course meant traffic noise.

    "Never, never again." (107563115)

The location of the hotel was convenient to the London Underground (Earl's Court). The continental breakfast was more than adequate. The room size was acceptable and the price was affordable.

As commented by hotel staff in response to an e-mail I sent them about my issues...the hotel (building) is old and the squeeky floors are "part of the character". The character of this hotel was lost on our last night's stay between the hours of approximately 11:00 pm until 1:30 am as another hotel guest in a room close to our seemed content to bang and crash around his room and from 4:30 am until 6:00 am either this same guest or another continuously paced across the squeeky floors. While the occasional squeek may add character to the hotel, one and one half hours of loud, steady squeeks does not make for a restful sleep. The gentleman who checked us out was not pleasant at all. He never asked how our stay was.

    Excelente ubicacion.

Las instalaciones del hotel estan descuidadas, lo cual es una lastima ya que es un extraordinario edificio con muy buenas habitaciones y extraordinario personal.

"I felt very comfortable. The lifts worked, the hotel was clean, the staff very efficient and nice smiles. Convenient to the station, quiet location. I didn't want to use the restaurant, and there are good convenience food shops very nearby. If I attend a conference in the vicinity again, I'll be happy to return. Basic, but clean and comfortable and quiet and convenient. Perfectly fine." (107223441)

Barkstone Garden Hotel was well situated for my needs. My room overlooked trees and gardens. The room was small, the furnishings well-used, but very clean. The room was quiet; the bed comfortable especially for one; the room-temperature comfortable; the window opened easily; the water was hot, and the refreshments in the room topped-up regularly. The early morning call was reliable, the staff unfailingly polite, friendly and helpful. I did not use the restaurant or breakfast facilities. The TV worked fine. Less than 5 minutes from Earls Court Station too.

I suppose the decor could be improved, but it was clean, which was more important to me. I would have found a drawer conventient, and the armchair was too low for the desk: these are minor points of improvement for me. But for the money, I got good sleep and a clean room to come back to.

Close to the underground station, and easy access to central London

After taking shower, water in the bath tub stayed (did not go away) for long time. Little work space on the desk (occupied by a TV set etc.)

"I don't think I will ever stay in the same hotel again despite all its good points. I've made a really negative association of my experience in Barkston Gardens Hotel.Hope they will improve that to spare other visitors from all the unnecessary scare" (107277467)

    Excellent location, very friendly staff

The only thing that has been very-very annoyning was the fire alarm going off on both nights that I stayed at the hotel. It was very-very scary..It woke me from deep sleep-I think it was 2.00 in the morning.I had to wake up really ealry the next morning to attend a demanding training event. My disrupted sleep on both nights spoiled much of my concentration and good mood.

Staff were all excellent. No problem when I requested to leave my luggage both before the room was available and when I checked out. Breakfast was excellent. Well worth the upgrade to full English.

Creaky floor boards and slight odour which seemed to come from the bathroom extractor fan.

"Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the hotel as it provided everything we required including a nice quiet location close to the Earl's Court Tube Station which was ideal." (97875278)

The size of the room and the facilities were exceptional. The service provided by staff in the breakfast room was excellent.

One day we required an early breakfast in our room which arrived later than the time specified on the order form. We found this very inconvenient as we had to leave just as the breakfast arrived.

Two minutes from tube and bus stops. Handy for museums, Albert Hall etc. Relatively quiet road for London. Good size bedrooms. Clean. Decent breakfast in pleasant dining room. Friendly helpful staff.

Corridors and room furniture looking a little tired, in common with so many London hotels.

This hotel is well-situated, has good accommodation, good sized rooms with a good sized ensuite bathroom, a good breakfast and friendly staff.

Only issue was the water pressure at the time, which I understand was outside the control of the hotel.

The location was perfect for easy transfer from Earls Court tube. Everything worked trouble free and the staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and efficiently served. The room was at the front of the hotel but even with minus temperatures outside it was warm and quiet!! Notably our room felt clean and cared for - Well done Housekeeping

It is difficult to criticise given price and location but whilst the fittings were of a high standard the maintenance could go beyond ensuring everything works to improving the standard of decoration and style of furnishings Some areas were very pleasant, clean and modern.

The cleaning staff do a great job and make sure you have plenty of towels etc. The matteres was slightly lumpy. The continental breakfast is average, but dining room setting is nice. Easy to find and close to Earl's Court tube station. The Comfort Inn nearby is nicer building, but staff not as good. Overall a decent value for the area." (97344851)

"Overall, the Barkston Gardens Hotel made our trip to London very enjoyable. I would recommend it to anyone. Its hard to think of any dislikes about our stay. As we arrived two hours early than we were supposed to, they had our room waiting for us. The check in was very quick. As i have said, the room was very nice. We asked for a wake up call in the morning, there was no problem with that. Breakfast was great, and peaceful at that time of day.We had to go to the Earls exhibition centre at 8am, but we knew we had to be checked out of the hotel at 12pm that day. As we thought we wouldnt be back for that time, we asked if we could leave our luggage in a store room and collect it later that day...again, no trouble. The staff were very polite and helpful." (97354812)

I found that the location was exellant, with a short walk to earls court tube station, and earls court itself. A variety of shops were just around the corner, and the hotel was set in a nice place. The room itself was very cosy, as was the whole hotel.

The hotel provides wireless internet acess, and also has one free to use computer for the guests. This computer, unfortunatly, was out of order whilst our stay.

"The corridors, lift and rooms have a run-down feel, compensated by, for me, a lovely view from my room on the 6th floor over gardens to the front. I originally was given a room to the back, and it was miserable, dark, and shabby, with a view of a tiny slice of sky. I asked to be moved immediately, and was. Bad TV reception for those who might be spending time in. Very professional, courteous breakfast manager. This could be a terrific hotel, in its good location, given a little care and attention to the functioning and presentation of accommodation. I guess you get what you pay for, which in the UK seems to be not quite as much as elsewhere." (99509183)
