  We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we arrived. Staff were very friendly, especially the manager, Grant. The food and service were excellent. We were made to feel special and would like to thank everyone for making our stay memorable.

  Rooms nice and clean, bathroom good size and clean, staff very obliging

  Thought it a bit odd being charged 10% extra in restuarant for groups of 10 or more, I feel that you should get a discount for spending more not an increase, Also, when we arrived we only had one room allocated, fortunately there was another available

  Location

  The facilities were very basic. The cleaner hoovering round us as we eat breakfast is not what we expected. The ensuite was so small the sink had to be positioned in the bedroom. The towel rail fell off the wall when the towel was removed. A very poor standard of hotel.

  We really enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff and our room was clean and comfortable. The food and service was excellent. Would recommend Goblin Ha.

  No shower in the rooms but bath was ample.

  Good bar/restaurant with excellent food at good value. Gifford is a great location. Clean room. Good value.

  Hotel needs renovation. No soap or shower gel in bathroom. Bathroom a bit dated

  On arrival we were sked to pay upfront ,later defered till after evening meal which was to be selected from a massive menu.The room was a 10foot square box with a shower room and toilet only just big eneought o be sort of functional, the washand basin was in front of a clear glass window wii=tha broken venetios blind, towel rail fell of the door repeatedly, skirting boards dusty, no wardrobe, no dressing table, no electric socket within reach of a mirror

  The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a very varied menu catering for all tastes at a very reasonable price. We liked the situation outside the bustle of Edinburgh, but sufficiently close to the city and good seaside venues to enjoy the type of holiday we appreciate.

  The springs in the bed which were pretty vicious at times.

  Nice and typical hotel in a lovely place. Spacious and comfortable rooms. Large choice of food at the restaurant.

  the hotel is friendly and in an excellent location to get into Edinburgh and surrounding countryside. The breakfast was good. The evening meal was average and not as good as the last time we stayed. The menu now is just a pub chain one, whereas it used to be far more individual and better quality

  The rooms where not clean and the decoration needed doing desperatly. The tv did not work and when the manager was told he tried to fix it but failed.

  the room was small, shower/toilet very small a bit d.i.y. but clean twin beds, and the food was good. the bar being the best part of our stay.

  we were asked to pay for the room as we entered the hotel, and before we could see the room, which was a little strange.

  The staff were excellent particularly morning breakfast staff. The lady was an excellent ambassador for the area and very helpful as far as diet is concerned.

  On arrival at hotel direct from a foreign visit abroad, I had upon my person very few pounds sterling and many euros, accordingly, I asked ,that my small bar drinks bill and my subsequent evening meal should be put on my room account , so to be paid by one payment via bank direct debit card this request was refused and the owner stated that such had to be paid for at the time. Luckily for ourselves ,Gifford had a ATM and my wife was able to access funds, and so accede to the owners request.I must confess I found this off-putting especially as I had used this establishment over last Xmas.

  Stayed one night whilst attending a nearby wedding. Hotel happy to let us check in early to change. Very welcoming staff, great beer garden to the back of the hotel and good quality breakfast the next morning. Ideal for a short stay.
