  Wonderful location, nice building (apart from windows), sometimes quite. Do not stay here perhaps on a Friday or Saturday night when office parties are on unless you are a very heavy sleeper and/or they have mended the windows so they can be shut.

  1. Despite requesting parking when making the booking some weeks before the stay when checking the day before we were advised that we could only use the car park after 1800. Despite advising that walking was difficult following a major back operation they would not change this. This is all very well but far from satistactory when the check in time is 1500! 2. When we did checked in at about 1700 we asked if it was now ok to bring the car in and where advise it was Ok. However when we got to the entrance there was an argument with the memeber of staff who intially would not let us in as he had not even been advised we were staying after 1800... 3. On checking-in we asked for times of Evensong and if the gate to the Ring Road car park was still open. The staff member was unable to answer these basic questions and could not even be bothered to ask other staff memebers standing by. 4. On going to bed there was lots of noise from an office party some several hundred metres away. Despite calling reception this continued. There would not have been a problem with this if we could have actually shut the windows. Only 2 of the 3 windows actually had latch handles ~ thats not acceptable.

  This is an exceptional place to stay - with ambience, peace and great facilities in a unique setting, and very close to all of Canterbury's attractions

  "Excellent - will be returning" (108939943)

  Beautiful location, asked for a room overlooking the cathedral and was given one, so fantastic view. Peace of mind with parking and added bonus of being able to walk everywhere in the town.

  Not really a bad point, but would have been nice to have been able to have had a cooked breakfast

  A treasure of tranquillity tucked away in the precinct with wonderful views of the cathedral. You feel a part of the cathedral community. The ambience is of a superior college cum meditation centre with a classical library and a welcoming, bright refectory. A little gem.

  The room carpet was badly marked but everything else was perfect.

  The accommodation was exactly as expected

  2 days prior to arrival I was contacted to say they had failed to process the booking and they didn't have any rooms for me. This was extremely distressing as it was a birthday weekend. After 3 or 4 conversations they persuaded another guest not to come. I had booked on the 23 May well in advance

  It was very good to have an ironing machine in the room.

  There were no bad points and the overall experience was good. However, on our last day our room was not totally tidied up, but we think it was just forgotten. It would have been great to have a bit more varied breakfast as well.

  "Had we simply been spending a week-end sight-seeing this would have been ideal...but the fact that we had to be out of the room when we most needed it spoiled the experience. If you're coming for a function in the cathedral it might pay you to check with the hotel before you book." (108317123)

  A beautiful situation (including parking in the cathedral grounds), high quality finishing and furnishings, very quiet/peaceful, polite and helpful staff...and of course an ideal location if you're attending a function in the cathedral.

  Difficult to find-not signposted. Lovely room but a little small especially when trying to get into suits etc for formal function with ironing board up!;limited breakfast options for vegans(no soya milk;no earl grey tea;yoghurts weren't chilled). Main problem however was having to vacate the room by 11:00. Graduation ceremony went on until 12:30 which meant afterwards a family of four had to change out of formal clothes in the Disabled toilets! We filled the small reception area with ourselves and our bags whilst other guests were arriving. Not good for £200 a night-was it really the case that all the rooms were needed immediately?

  "Overall, an excellent place to stay. We loved the location, views of the Cathedral, and secure parking; the accommodation was value for money but the atmosphere and surroundings are superb; such quietness in the centre of a city is wonderful." (108916893)

  Reception staff were pleasant although allowances were made for the younger ones - perhaps still in training. One particular (mature) staff member was very helpful when we made a specific request for specific items of room service. Breakfast service staffing was mediocre. Wifi provision was good but the password was changed very frequently, necessitating yet another call to Reception.

  Rather frustrating to have to ask for a hairdryer. Also, as soap and plastic glasses were provided on Day 1 it was annoying to realise they had been removed but not replaced on Day 2 (nor was there a spare loo roll); hence the good service from the Receptionist, who had this rectified for us. Sometimes the key cards fail to open the door. Throughout, the carpets need serious urgent cleaning - so noticeable at present. No doubt the creaky beds and well-worn mattresses are being replaced shortly.

  "This was booked on a special deal so makes the value for money for me even worse. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels and Guest Houses all around the UK over the last 3 years and pund for pound this was probably one of the worst. Sorry." (108225436)

  excellent heating options and the sole raditor in the room was sufficient to keep the room warm all night. Good wi-fi coverage within the room. Good shower facility.

  The towel warmer in shower room was not working to dry the towels. Furniture looking very tired, in my room there were huge cracks and dents in the bedside cabinet. Carpet was light grey (strange colour to have in a hotel room considering the amount of foot traffic) and was marked quite heavily. Toilet was not cleaned before my arrival and had a broken hinge.

  No safe in the room. The breakfast was basic to poor. I would expect a nice English Breakfast in a place like the Cathedral Lodge.

  hotel experience was good overall, lots of peace and quiet, the room smells amazing

  Wish the website showed all the rooms cause the 106 which my guest stayed in was considerably smaller than the one on the website,a few pictures of the different types of rooms would be extremely helpful because one tends to think that what you see on the net is what one will actually stay in.

  The reception staff were both efficiant and helpfull, all the other staff we encountered were of the same high quality. The veiw from the room was stunning and worth the stay alone.

  Superb location, right by cathedral, with free parking in the precincts. Clean, obviously well run, polite helpful staff.

  Didn't find any - though some might not like the cathedral bells (but they were there first!)

  The location was excellent within the Cathedral grounds with walking distance to the town centre.

  Directions to the Hotel were not good enough. It made our journey very frustrating, and even tempting to turn around and go home.

  Excellent location. Clean. Helpful and friendly staff. Free parking. Nice sized rooms. Free internet.

  Shower cubicle a little small. Booked a double bed - which turned out to be 2 singles bolted together, with only a double duvet which didn't quite stretch far enough to cover 2 people, and a gap in the middle between the two mattresses. (However this was quickly changed back to two single beds when requested.) Limited choice for breakfast - some bread rolls would have been nice in addition to the bread for toasting.

  The setting is magnificent. The library very relaxing and well stocked. The staff were very helpful, courteous and kind. The dining room staff, polite and helpful.

  The shower drain clogged and before we knew it the water leaked through the floor to the room below. The staff immediately worked to correct the problem. They were very kind to us and worked hard to make sure we were taken care of as well as the leak and the people below us.

  Wonderful to be in cathedral precincts and able to enter through the little gate and shut out the noisy night life and see the cathedral by night, floodlit. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Room fine, great view, and windows that open, hurrah!

  Breakfast a bit boring but perfectly adequate.
