  "All in all , for 2 night stay it was fine. I did hear from reception they are i the process of management change and the new ones are taking over next week and they have big ideas, hence they were running things down the week I stayed. Saz\ying all the above , I would stay there again should I have to visit the area again for work ." (108574056)

  staff were very friendly esp the reception and breakfast staff. Breakfast in itself was also good.

  the cleaning of my room - left old milk jug an dirty glass. There was no were to hang towels after their use the only heating was storage heaters and this was not switched on for when I arrived, therefore my room was cold

  Staff were efficient and friendly. Bed linen white and spotless. Comfortable bed.

  Room 48 was dirty ... a) carpet dirty - badly in need of a steam clean b) Walls and paintwork grimy - surface dirt, which rubbed off onto clothes c) Tiling in shower had ingrained dirt d) Very poor TV reception e) Towel holder broken on bathroom wall f) Breakfast advertised from 8am (Sundays) - no eggs available until 8.20am

  "Hotel could do with a general tidying up. A good base for moving around. Needs to decide which name to use out front." (108891380)

  Clean linen and towels. Comfortable bed. Pleasant staff. Good breakfasts.

  Cleaning of floors could be better. Shower tiles needed cleaned. Strong smell from Bathroom, Small area of "Furry" mould on one wall could have been cleaned away.

  "On first impressions excellent but once I went into the bedroom very poor. " (108959376)

  receptionist was very polite and efficient when we arrived. the hotel looks nice and welcoming from the outside. £26 per night for 2 was great value.

  bedroom was not cleaned well. I understand that it was only £26 per night however there were the following faults with the room... - hairs in the bath and on the bathroom floor, - tv did not work properly, - door handle on wardrobe was not there, - fan in the bathroom was full of dirt, - the toilet brush was black with muck. how can u clean a toilet with something that is dirty before you start, - cups and saucers were not cleaned properly, - the room had not been hoovered there were bits all over the floor. I could have stayed in a travel lodge for £9 a night and it would have been cleaner, I work in a hotel myself and where i work those standards of hygenie would not be excepted.

  the hotel offered excellent value for money with regards to rate that i paid for the room. staff check in was also very good.

  bathroom was not as clean as it should have been but overrall experience was great.

  Price - but you get what y0u pay for :(

  Kareoke till 2.30am every Friday & Saturday, and if you are staying in the rooms above the bar, you will be very much disturbed by the noise, as the hotel has no sound proofing. Very thin walls, so the 2nd night I was kept awake by the couple in the room next to ours till 4am. Waiting staff very sloppy, and did not apologise when we told them the milk was off. Horrible smell throughout the hotel. Checked out one day early as disliked it so much.

  "Not good, but we had a good laugh about it afterwards - the high point was the "blunt Northern-ness" of the staff: "Oooh. Ya loooke brown. Av ya bin away then?" whilst the poor girl fought with the booking in system... How we laughed (on the way home)." (108756741)

  i)It was close to the ultimate destination that we required, and ii) Was cheap (see additional comments, below)

  Check in staff could not find out reservation, despite the fact that I took the precaution of phoning 24hrs in advance to confirm all was well. Room smelt damp and then when we opened the window the aroma of the local farm wafted in... Hotel generally looked "warn out" and could benefit from a lick of paint at the very least. The tea / coffee making facilities were extremely basic. The double glazing was "blown" in that water was inside the casement. The bar facilities were terrible. Appallingly basic, no facility to be able to purchase drinks by debit / credit card so it was cash or room charge only. The smallest ice-cubes known to humanity and terrible gin... On the basis of what we had seen at check in and in the bar, we skipped the breakfast on the Sunday morning opting for crisps and cigarettes from the Texaco Garage across the road and McDonald's on the motorway. We only stayed at this location as it was 4.3 miles from where we needed to be and so was in "taxi distance". We were advised of options in the Southport area, but they were considerably further away and more expensive... Our choice... However, I was right in that any establishment using "Quality" as part of their name / title usually isn't. If we are up again, we shall bite the bullet and go to Southport or to a "chain" such as Holiday Inn etc. However for the price we paid, it was comparable to a Holiday Inn type establishment, so apart from the ease of the location I really don't think we saved much on the accommodation - that chain Lenny Henry bashes on about was the same for price, and having stayed in one of them in East Anglia last year, I would have to say it is FAR superior... It's just a question of finding one where you want one to be!

  "I have spent 23 years in the Royal Air Force travelling extensively and staying in accommodation of varying standards. It is with regret that I have to say that I have stayed in better and cleaner accommodation whilst living in a tent in the middle of the desert. " (107978776)

  The reception staff were courteous and helpful and the breakfast was of a very good standard.

  The standard of decoration and more importantly the standard or cleanliness was appalling. We asked to move from our first room (25) because of the layer of dust and the dirty pair of socks at the side of the bed. I asked the receptionist when the room was last cleaned and she said that it had been cleaned that morning. The state of the room was totally unacceptable. We were moved to room 11 and the decoration and cleanliness was no better, if not worse. I would have complained and left the hotel was it not for the fact that I could not guarantee a room for myself and my family elsewhere. The problems with the room are bulleted below: • Mould on the walls around window • Mould/mildew around the bathroom taps • Musty smell (due to mould) • Hairs in bath • Ripped wallpaper • Cigarette burns on carpet • General dirt on carpet • Dirt in corners of bathroom floor • Fire alarm test sticker shows 10/04 (October 2004) The corridor we were in did not look as though it had been vacuumed in a while but I cannot comment on any other public areas as we did not use them.

  price,cleanliness, toiletries, large mirror with accessible plug, fluffy towels

  bedside light flickering, took time to get to grips with the shower,feel curfew of 1 am for the private party disco rather late given that it was so noisy- just as well we brought our earplugs, some doors/corridors seemed a bit shabby

  Staff were very helpful and polite the beds were comfortable and room quiet. Meals were generally OK

  The rooms and communal areas are showing their age and mould in the shower head although inevitable over time is not good

  Easy to book and value for money price.

  The room was very basic and it smelled damp/fusty. The television did not work although we would have only used it for a short time in the morning.

  Service from the staff was exceptional

  Facilities and bedrooms were far below the standard I expect when staying at a hotel, what with the mouldy bathrooms, broken cupboards and uncomfortable bed I was very disappointed.

  "The hotel was a lot further away than I was led to believe from Chorley leading to a £10 taxi ride the next morning I was not anticipating. On reflection I would not have booked this hotel had I been aware of that." (107976525)

  The hotel receptionist was helpful. Booked a taxi for me and ensured I got a meal despite arriving late.

  The toilet seat in my room was broken. The television was confusing to operate as no idea what station correlated to channels eg channel 97 was BBC1.

  Very poor cleaning standards. Open the net curtain in the bedroom and the window was filthy. THe bathroom had a large amount of mildew.
