  Excellent staff and good service.Also the food was very good both at breakfast and evening meal.

  only minor problems-TV channel kept going off and could use a hook on the back of the bathroom door!!

  Excellent breakfast served by friendly staff and enough on offer to keep you going all day.Also pleasant room with a good shower.

  Smokers making a noise outside the front door made it difficult to sleep until the early hours.Front door closer needs replacing.

  "The staff were pleasant, the food was nice. BUT we were in a family room directly above the Hotel Bar and from 10pm to 1.45am we were kept awake by the noise of the regulars who were drunk, loud and chanting various songs. We had a double glazed window at the front which unfortunately did not close therefore we could not drown the noise out whatosever. Ourselves and other guests had been kept awake, the owner on checkout had merely asked if we had been troubled by the noise, however no apology was offered nor discount." (99638642)

  It was a small, friendly hotel. They provided an early breakfast outwith their normal times as we had an early start.

  "I would like to have known about the lack of central heating. Although I would be very happy to stay there again in the summer months I would be very unlikely to do so during winter." (99280386)

  I foound the hotel quite cold. There was no central heating in some parts including my bedroom. There was an electric heater which had not been put on in advance of my arrival.

  "This room was booked as a joint birthday surprise for my parents to stay for 2 nights and they loved it! Room was large,comfortable,warm and very well equipped.Bathroom was very spacious with lovely kidney shaped bath. All extremely comfortable, clean, welcoming and homely. Food, excellent, 100%. excellent choice and good prices! Not forgetting the staff, what can we say, they were all extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome! All in all great value for money,extremely homely,clean,comfortable friendly place to stay. We will be back." (99470495)

  "Hotel lived up to my expectations and I would certainly stay there again. It is a very good central location for the north-east coast, within easy reach of all the important towns and villages. Although, I only ate breakfast in the hotel, this was excellent. Altogether, ideal for my purposes and good value for money" (3304350308)

  "This was avery relaxing overnight stay, as I stay in hotels at least 10 nights a month i have sound knowledge of good friendly accomodation My one complaint which was a fairly minor one would be the bathroom" (3304155599)

  "I was surprised that the hotel was on the main street. Luckily the car traffic stops in the night time. The breakfast was very good and the atmosphere was enjoyable." (1877424)

  I liked the third story, the magazines in the stair way, the downtown location. It was just right for a small town hotel.

  "The experience was good overall. I would have liked to have a phone in the room. It was a bit noisy from the other guests, but that is hardly the fault of the staff. The food was very good for both dinner and breakfast. It was a hassle free experience and I would definitely return." (2712630)

  The attention of the staff when we needed medical attention. (Not geriatric!!) Meals were Scottish and excellent specially the soup and the smoked haddock.

  Not a lot one can change in a typical Station Hotel. It was good overall. Lovely owners, lovely staff.

  "I would like to have known that I was paying £60 to £70 per night per room that was stuck in the fifty's, with the only redeeming factor of clean bedding. The shower was not useable due to the height over the bath. There was no head clearance. The bath was not useable due to the state of it. The heater on the wall was in a state of disrepair and the workmaen were obviously going back the following day to resume work. There were dirty cups left on the floor. The room was so bad that my husband took photgraphs of the room" (2030539)

  The outside of the Hotel was very unwelcoming. The elderly couple that we were travelling with were very unhappy about the reception area. When we finally were shown to our rooms the elderly couple on the floor above us were quite distressed about their room but when they swa ours they could not believe how awful ours was. In fact my husband was downstairs complaining to the receptionist about the dirty cups left in the room and the workmens tools etc. when there was a knock on the door and it was the receptionist who had come to apologise on behalf of the manager. Shame the manager could not do this themselves. We were supposed to have stayed for a period of three days and were looking to stay longer but needless to say we were out of there the very next morning.

  There is not an area where it cannot be improved. The only nice thing about it was that it is in Portsoy.
