design of the rooms and bathrooms very stylefull and modern. spacy rooms (ensuite) Close to the train station and very easy to find. Very kind and helpfull receptioniste. found by Google Earth. Quick response by mail
beer smell at the entrance of the hotel coming from the bar. Kind of labirinth to reach our room, but well indicated

The Duke of Edinburgh Hotel & Bar, Barrow-in-Furness commentarios"we had an excellnet stay my only complaint and it'e not really a complaint is that there was no mirror on the desk to enable me to do hair and make up, there was however a mirror in the hall but no electric plug luckily for me I had a small extension lead with me, but it would be a good idea top place a mirror on the desk for future guests" (107610028)

The staff were friendly and prompt,the rooms were clean.
When I booked the room I let the hotel know that my train was not due to leave until after check out time,even though I wasnt asked to leave the hotel I did feel guilty with the staff waiting arounf to get into the room. I realise jobs need done but I had nowhere to wait until my train was due

Room was excellent, great facilities. The staff were very accomodating and helpful.
Room service ended a little early. Because I was working down there I didn't actually get into my room until 8am so I only had 1 hour to get showered and changed.

good food good atmosphere
we are in our late fifties, and our room was on the second floor with no lift.the car park was across the road,at no point did a member of staff offer to help with the luggage.

The manager of this Hotel - I think his name is Barry - is excellent. Check-in was only fair because I arrived late and was checked in by someone who had worked the bar all night! The bed was great. Clean linen = perfect and the shower was fantastic!

Very well fitted and good quality rooms.
A hell of a lot of stairs to climb. In fact another member of our party had to be moved to the ground floor as they would never have made the stairs.

When we arrived after a 3 hour drive (and Im 8 months pregnant) we were informed there was a problem with the computers and there was no rooms. Apparently the same had happeneed to 5 other guests THAT DAY! Moved to a Guest House nearby which was more expensive and less quality. Althouogh the Duke of Edinburgh paid the difference it was no compensation as we were looking forward to our stay in a new modern hotel,not one styled in the 70's.

The hotels rooms were lovely very modern and the beds huge and comfortable
the noise from the private function was terrible so no good if you want a quiet stay

Despite receiving booking confirmation from active hotels, upon arrival I was informed that the hotel had no record of my booking. Fortunately the staff were very helpfull and had a room available.

Room and breakfast were excellent, staff very helpful and pleasant.
The hotel is currently under renovation and having some minor teething problems which the staff dealt with adequately. At the moment there is no lift and we were on the third floor.

The hotel was in a good location near the station and has potential to be a lovely hotel
There was only one member of staff on when we arrived, so there was a queue at the bar waiting for a drink, i had to wait 10 minutes to check in whilst the one member of staff was on the phone taking other bookings. When i finally checked in we had been put in different rooms and were due to be charged more than the online booking quote. we were then moved rooms as the whole of the second floor was flowing brown water from the taps. there was also never anyone at the bar later in the evening, so people were expected to wait until a member of staff was nearby. it would also be a good idea if the rooms had some drinking water, plus there is building work going on so you better not mind the sound of drilling.

Very attractive modern and contemporary decor, super bed, quiet so had good nights sleep. All recently refurbished with more facilities on the way.

An attempt had been made to provide stylish accommodation. Free internet access.
Poor layout of bathroom with toilet squeezed into an acutely-angled corner. Large shower enclosure but no ledge or tray for soap or shower gel. Much-vaunted bistro on website was closed (one of my reasons for staying there) and I had to make do with indifferent bar food. Bar area did not have a particularly welcoming ambience. Over-complicated lighting system in rooms with inadequate instructions for its use. Tea & coffee making facilities but no spoon and no hot chocolate provided
