Easy check-in. Given own key so could come and go as we pleased.
Unfortunately we missed breakfast as it was only served from 9am on saturdays, and we had to be gone by then. Quite noisy at night, but we were expecting this as it was advertised on the website.

Location was good as It was convenient for tram service and the university .
The shower was quite discusting to the point that my adult daughter who was with me refused to use it. Although forewarned about noise levels from the bar downstairs the ear plugs provided were totally inadequate. The carpets on the landing was filthy.Acoat of paint everywhere at least would freshten up the place

Helpfulness of staff. Handy location for nightlife with good pubs just down the road.Free party at hotel!Fairly cheap accomodation.
Half finished mug of coffee left on table and dirty towels left in bathroom although clean ones were provided. Halloween party went on until 5am. Unusally limited choice of breakast ie full English or cereal and bacon sandwich,tea/coffee or orange juice. Parking on public road.

V clean hotel with luxurious furnishings, and good breakfast
Room was small and dark, with traffic noise outside( no double glazing) The morning alarm call system was difficult to switch off when you have just woken up, and were not pre warned about what you had to do.

Brilliant location, price only £25 a night including brilliant breakfast, staff very very pleasant. Live bands twice a week and music every night - fair warning given. I had a twin room even though I paid for a single. Only paid on arrival even though I booked five months before. Plenty of tea and coffee.
No remote for TV, couldn't adjust vol. or channel. No hair-dryer, no toiletries, only one small soap, though plety of dry towels.

Good value for money, convienent for city centre and many central attractions. Good pub in the hotel also. Nice breakfasts too all in the price.
Loud music could be heard from my room until about 2am! I imagine the case would be the same in all the other rooms. The music I think comes from a building next door or above the hotel - it was hard to tell. This goes on every night of the week from what I believe.

there werent any good points
the hote is extremely run down stains on all furniture and the bed had blankets that had not seen the wash for months. mould in bathroom, no remote for tv. the room had kettle but no cups.

Nevertheless, the noise levels during the night made it impossible to enjoy an uninterrupted night's sleep, and the incident on the stairs made me extremely concerned about the hotel's cleanliness in general. I was also concerned that there appeared to be no staff in attendance anywhere on the Saturday morning, and that it seemed that no staff had been in attendance since the early hours of the morning." All appliances in room functioned correctly.
Live music from the bar area was clearly audible in a second-floor room until 3.40 am, Saturday 13 June and 1.30 am Sunday 14 June. This seriously disturbed my sleep on both nights. The fact that the hotel supplied ear-plugs in each room suggested that this was not an unusual occurrence. I did not use the ear-plugs for fear of failing to hear an alarm should there be a fire. Although I was told that breakfast was officially available from 9 am on Saturday and Sunday, when I went down at 9.10 am on Saturday the bar and reception area were locked and no staff members were in attendance. I waited until 9.15 am, but no-one appeared. At some point during the night of Friday - Saturday, an individual defecated on the stairs, as I discovered on Saturday morning. Since no staff members were in attendance at that point, I was not able to report the health hazard, although it was cleaned up by the time I returned that evening.

It was far cheaper. staff were friendly and informative. Coffe and tea provision was generous. the sheets were clean. there was plenty of hot water.
Check in was through a very busy bar area. The entrance hall was dirty. There was no receptionist bar staff had to cover the reception which was behind a locked door. the stairway was filthy . there was no lift. the corridors were filthy. thre door lock was faulty. the room had only been superficially cleaned. carpets had stains . headboards had stains . the TV had no remote control. the bathroom had had a superficial clean, i.e. the cracks between the tiles were very dark with grime.

The bedroom was clean and roomy, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are basic ensuite, but have everything you'll need for your stay, such as coffee/tea making facilities, TV, phone, room heaters, etc. A substantial breakfast was served in the morning, with a vegetarian option available. The student-type bar downstairs could be a problem to anyone who doesn't like loud music playing into the early hours, but this is clearly stated on the hotel details prior to booking - and earplugs are provided in the rooms! (The music was not a problem to us, in fact we enjoyed the lively atmosphere). Lots of pubs, clubs, takeaways, cashpoints etc within easy walking distance.
I can't really think of any bad points to The Harley.

One lad serving breakfast was nice and friendly. The location is good.
The shower did not work for the entire stay, it was often difficult to find staff, some staff were rude and unhelpful and the breakfast was very poor quality and as if it had been cooked on the previous day and warmed up. I asked for a beaker for the bathroom and the one supplied was filthy.

Bad attitude of person checking me in. Breakfast denied at 10.15 when I was told the previous night that it would be served from 07.30 - 10.30am. I pointed out that it was only 10.15 and was told that I would have to wait to find out if the chef was prepared to serve me breakfast - I only asked for toast and cereal!

Rated as a three star - no one around to check you in - the plaster needs repair and walls need to be painted - the carpets in the hall/staircase/room are worn out - the toilet seat was hanging on a single hinge - parking was included - it was on the street and has to be paid for

Fantastic atmosphere. Very good value for money.
Rang to ask about parking. Advised of on street parking but not given any ondication of cost or no. of spaces and where the parking was. Almost as if the hotel doesn't provide the service so they didn't care. Only downside to a great booking experience.

Friendly, casual, young atmosphere in this pub hotel. Obviously not much more than a big old pub, with live music (which was not a problem at all), but very handy for the university area and the centre and friendly.
No lift, so a bit of a drag to carry bags to the 3rd floor. Room was fine, adequate certainly, value for money, but a cat could not be swung.
