The hotel building is fantastic, as are the grounds. James, the Duty Manager, dealt with us very well during the Saturday evening when we complained about the wine. Dinner was good on Saturday evening.
Staff were generally not interested in us as their guests - they were just about polite, but certainly not friendly. Our room smelled dreadfully of paint and we had difficulty dealing with it at night-time. We ordered a bottle of Veuve Cliquot on Saturday afternoon - it was delivered straight from a shelf, not having been chilled - and it was the last of that type! We eventually drank some champagne 1.25 hours later! That evening, at dinner, the white wine was yet again served warm. By the time another bottle (chardonnay rather than pinot grigio) was delivered, we had almost finished our meal. Breakfast was pretty poor - everything we ate, on both mornings, was barely warm and the service was chaotic to say the least. There seemed to be a general air of too few staff - especially at the bar and in the breakfast room. The TV in the bar/lounge was a total unwanted distraction and there was nowhere else for us to go to have a quiet time - one of the receptionists suggested the conference area which was "cold and uninviting". We were shocked that there were no newspapers for guests to read.

Lovely character about the hotel. Good mix of old and new styling. Good food
The Stables Rooms are VERY noisy. Early morning deliveries start at 7am and staff walk across the gravel under the bedroom windows instead of round the pathas. Wireless internet signal is also weak in these rooms

The Mount Hotel & Conference Centre, Tettenhall Wood commentaires"I would stay at this hotel again as it was very good value.A beautiful old building in a quiet location with friendly helpful staff.I made use of the complimentry ironing facility which I was impressed by.Our room was very quiet and we did'nt hear any noise from other rooms so had 2 good nights sleep whilst there.The hotel was clean but our room could've done with being refurbished.The TV reception was bad (with no Satelite TV)in our room,being only a couple of minor dissapointments but we couldn't grumble for the price we paid (2 weekend nights for a double room including full breakfast & free ironing £98 altogether for the stay)." Room needed refurbishing (but was clean and adequate).Bad television reception.No satelite TV in room.

Also courteous and considerate staff. For example, my wife arrived obviously in discomfort from an injured arm. When we checked out the following morning the receptionist had remembered and kindly enquired how she was feeling. We will certainly stay again." (97633774)

Couldn't find my booking as I have a double barreled surname and the first part had been lost somewhere in the booking process - Note to web designers a - character in a name is not an illegal character! Friendly staff, though the receptionist was on her own, answering calls for prospective guests whilst actual guests waited. Decor, the interior designer should be shot, the horrible modern bar does not fit the building, neither do the drapes, furniture, wallpaper or terrible lighting boxes on the ceiling of the dining room. Room was acceptable but tired, the one piece sinks in the bathroom look fine in a Mal Maison not in a country house hotel and always throw water all over you the first time you turn the tap on because they are too shallow! Overall I enjoyed my stay, the staff were helpful and dealt with my requests quickly, the hotel's prices were acceptable and it could be a beautiful location and quite a stunning hotel." (97832949)

Location, Location, Location.
This once superb hotel has declined dramatically under present ownership. It is becoming increasingly delpidated while pricey. In one of the rooms the shower was scalding hot and could not be adjusted... etc.etc. etc.

Unfortunately it wasn't. Even the second flight of stairs only has a bannister rail on one side, which in my case meant I had to pull myself up in a rather undignified fashion. The state of the window sills in our room suggested that redecoration of the outside was long overdue. I gather the hotel has recently changed hands, so I am prepared to give it a second chance -but certainly will not bother with the breakfast, having had better Full English breakfasts in hotels from Shanghai to Accra, via Dubai and Mumbai." lack of a lift (I'm disabled and our room as originally booked was on the second floor) and an apology for a cooked breakfast, which was certainly not value for money.

the size of our room was excellent.the bathroom was very clean and bright.
the double bed was a bit too lumpy and the pillows were too thick.there was a very large opening in the window which showed that the actual window had dropped.we could not close it at all and found it very drafty during the night.

The staff was very friendly and helpful but we suggest that more than one person be on reception; The lady on reception was answering calls, checking people in and using the computer whilst checking us in and a large group of people were waiting to be served. In total it took us 20 minutes to check in and far more than that checking out. But the rest of the service was exceptional which made up for it." (97774280)

For once staying in a hotel was a pleasant experience. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic. Rooms were very clean. All in all, terrific value for money.
Rooms could be upgraded slightly.

I like the old setting and grounds. Also enjoyed the gym although small I was the only one in it so that was fine.
Hot tap not working. Shower tempreture not working and in the morning was scolding hot, No heating and although I don't normally suffer with the cold I was quite cold. I was told heating was turned off for the summer but no one had realised summer hasn't arrived. No remote control for the TV. Hard bed with springs you could feel(I had to put a blanket on the materess to sleep).

Our room was very clean and comfy. Staff where excellent and always smiling and helpful.
Slight trouble with booking in as they could not find paperwork. They aplogised and room was quickly sorted out for us.

In short they could do with a makeover. The staff on reception need to look happier in their work, as during my stay I did not receive one greeting of hello, good morning, good evening, or did you enjoy your stay? No one smiles. Bath/Shower Screen still find somewhat dangerous, together with the glass sinks (water flows to quickly from taps and spills onto the floor) Major Health and Safety issue for me.

THE PERIOD FEATURES THAT HAD BEEN RETAINED, WE FOUND OUR ROOM VERY COSY AND COMFORTABLE.
THE SHOWER, BUT IT IS OBVIOUSLY DIFFICULT TO FIT EN-SUITES INTO OLDER PROPERTIES, SO THIS WAS UNDERSTANDABLE.

Beds too small, some bedrooms dark as a result of dark blue decor. TV's should be on the wall or cabinet not on the floor on a stand. Bathroom tiles have been painted and it is coming off, looks poor. Bottled water in rooms would be nice. The evening meal was an experience of extremes. The soup seemed tinned and was awful, the fish was delicious but simple. The duck and steak were beautifully cooked as were the vegetables, but there were far too many of them and then the deserts seemed to have been bought and not prepared in house. The staff are really good, they are responsive, polite and keen to please which is one of the reasons we have returned and we will be doing so again." (99753596)
Spacious entrance, well designed bar. Very comfortable in communal areas.
Some bedrooms are very dismal and there is some old equipment in them. Bathrooms require refurbishment. Sheets and blanlets are not conducive to a good nights sleep. Some beds are too small for a tall couple like ourselves. TV's require repositioning, windows require some replacement, catches not working etc. Very noisy when in bedrooms close to the bar and along first and ground floor corridors and the floor boards creak.

Also it would have been difficult to have found seats, perhaps looking at the seating layout could help. Other than this, the hotel was excellent, the staff were very friendly and we enjoyed the victorian mock tudor style of the hotel. I t looked impressive and inviting and that there could have been a hint of a ghost around!!" (99031451)
It was spacious and clean. The touch of turning down the beds at night with a chocolate, and a card giving the next day's weather forecast made it that little more special. When we made the comment that the shower hot and cold shower unit was coming loose from the wall, it was noted by the receptionist and we were told that it would be fixed as soon as possible

I think that as this is a conference centre, they need to site non event guests in a seperate area so that they are not disturbed. They also need to tighten up the breakfast regime to carefully set people(we were sat at the table of someone who was up getting their breakfast!) , to make sure that the food is replaced on the buffet as it runs out and attend to diners coffee and toast needs with more attention." Beautful surroundings, traditional decor. Food was good.
Lack of attention of staff in morning at breakfast and inexperienced bar staff. Sound proofing was not good, could hear all of the guests of a birthday party being held there shutting doors - sounded like they were coming into the room.
