The Moorings Hotel, Sevenoaks commentaires"Very pleasant" (108840776)
The staff were very welcoming and helpful, the room was nice and comfortable and easily accessible. We arrived back to the hotel late after a function and as our room was one of the out buildings we didnt disturb anybody when we returned.
Only fault I would say was that the shower only trickled and it was difficult to control the water temperature

The room was shabby, dirty and unhygenic and everything in it was tatty and old. The steam from the shower (which only operated at boiling point) set off our fire alarm and no-one took any notice - the staff passing by just turned a blind eye. There were also many 'shady characters' loitering around staff rooms in the early hours which made us feel quite unsafe. We didn't stay for breakfast, prefering to leave as soon as we woke up. This overpriced hotel would certainly be shut down if environmental health inspectors ever visited.

Minor niggles with room (window catch), poor command of English of front of house staff (re my allergies).

The Moorings Hotel, Sevenoaks commentaires"The hotel was a total rip off at the price charged (£79 per night). I was expecting it to at least be clean and well decorated at that price. I have stayed in better for half the price. In fact I stayed at The Belfry recently for only £20 more oer night. The room was shabby and looked like and smelt like a squat. Nothing in the room matched, there were handles missing from draws, cables all over the place, the bed was tiny and had a cover that was old, worn and smelt, the bathroom was also tiny, dirty and truly unpleasant. The cables from the ancient TV hung all over the place as did the pipes below the sink. The room smelt damp, the blind over the window was so thin as to be pointless. We did not stay for breakfast as we did not feel the level of general cleanliness leant itself to decent hygiene standards. Instead we got up early and drove home to sleep in our own bed. Had you not charged me up front I would not have stayed there. I am still waiting for the refund for the 2nd room I had booked but cancelled the day before arrival. I normally check Tripadvisor before booking but on this occasion I did not due to lack of time. I wish I had. Everyone on there seems to agree with me. This hotel is a disgrace. There were German cars in the car park when I left and I was truly embarrassed at what they must have thought at the standard of UK hotels based on this place. All in all a truly unpleasant experience and one that has not endeared me to your services. It really took the shine off an otherwise enjoyable weekend." (108217381)
Dirty, very poorly and shabbily furnished and decorated, room not ready on arrival, bed tiny, smelt damp, very over priced. Not impressed.

I was welcomed and given help with luggage to my room. As I was visiting a friend in the area I was able to leave my luggage for the day in the office. I was travelling by train from Bristol and it was close to the Station. As it was motel style is was very convenient to come and go.
It was not a problem but I had not realised that I could not have lunch at the hotel as it is not served at the weekend Sevenoaks has plenty of eating places and I enjoyed my visit.

Made very welcome when arrived.
No hot water, room was too hot and the window would not open enough to let any air in. The staff working there were not english so very hard to explain what you wanted. Did not have a choice about the Full English, you were given everything on a plate, which my husband could not eat as he does not like black pudding.

Cheap, extremely close to the station. It is a two minute walk, if that, with some shops round the corner to get a sandwich or something for tea.
Toilet seat was broken. Slightly odd smell in the room. Folliwing up on rpevious comments, it's true that the breakfast isn't up to much, but it's enough to keep you going until lunch I suppose.

Breakfast waiter was friendly.
Room 1: Only a trickle of hot water coming from tap. Receptionist (owner) said to hold my hand hard against tap whilst running it and it would clear an air lock (he couldn't do it as he was too busy). It did not work. Complained and given another room. Room 2: Shower worked with hot water, but blood smear found on back of bathroom door. All clothes drawers thick with dust. Bed linen smelled rancid. All this confirmed with housekeeper(?)next morning. Checked-out a day early - no refund given for unused night due cancellation policy.

The bathroom was utterly disgusting and had not been cleaned at all (hairs in the shower, dirty basin etc.). The hotel is currently under construction, there were holes in the walls and the lights in the hall did not work.

The Moorings Hotel, Sevenoaks commentaires"The whole experience was a nightmare, we had spent the day at Brands Hatch watching the racing there and were both very tired when we reached the hotel and just needed a nice comfortable room in which to have a shower and sleep. The bathroom certainly was not a place to use for a shower, and we just took the easy option of trying to sleep and getting out of there first thing the next morning." (97120749)
only good point was the well cooked breakfast, prepared by a mature couple in the hotel's employ. For which I thanked them personally.
On arrival we were asked to walk up 3 flights of stairs into an attic room ( I am disabled with a walking stick). The room had sloping roof ceilings and we needed to duck to get past into the room, we were left there by the manager and informed one door led to the ensuite bathroom. This turned out to be no larger than a small cupboard, I had to climb past the small sink to get to the toilet, the toilet flush lever did not work. The whole thing made me feel uncomfortable, so my husband took me back down the 3 flights of stairs to reception and asked for an exchange of rooms. The second room was outside in the rear garden, (not a problem) but when inside not a pleasant sight. Slightly larger bathroom but not in good clean order, and had a strong smell of raw sewage. The skirting boards and round the bath area were dirty. The two soap dispensers were empty and dirty although small soaps were left for our use. The so called wardrobe was not clean and contained at least 6 large picture frames and old floor tiles just dumped there. The bed was clean but the pillows were very old and lumpy. The kettle flex did not reach the plug from the workspace it was left on. So we had to put it on the floor to boil which is not very safe.

It's very well located - very close to Sevenoaks Station, motorway etc. Very pleasant staff - obviously a small, family run business. Helpful information in rooms re: local facilities e.g. taxis.
Facilities not 'state of the art' - everything very clean but decor a bit shabby - dining area in particular could do with a 'makeover'.

Friendly Staff, Clean Rooms, Good Breakfast, very convenient location for railway station.
The booked twin room was not available for first night of stay - but given acceptable alternative. Swapped to booked room for 2nd/3rd night. A few minor quibbles with rooms - 1 Inferior lighting - couldn't read in bed. 2 Slightly cramped - beds took up a lot of space, ensuite also small but adequate.

The Moorings Hotel, Sevenoaks commentaires"If you are a back packer or just looking for a place to doss down, this might be an option....but then it would be too expensive for that market. For the price of a room at a Premier Inn I would suggest that should be your first port of call; or alternatively, a local bed and breakfast. This place is expensive for what it is and for people more choosy, you wouldn't feel it comfortable or worth the money." (97923214)
Geographically, this hotel is in a good position, especially if you are visiting either the local area or for a local event. It's close to the railway station and no more than a couple of minutes from the town centre with access to a good range of shops (if needed) and a good choice of places to eat and drink. That's about as good as it gets.
The whole place is very tired and, in many areas, below average even for a basic hotel. Lots of the fittings were broken, the carpets are old, the furniture nothing special. On check in we paid for a room upgrade to what was classed as 'executive' - one of the outside rooms Motel style. We didn't have sight of a 'non executive' room but if ours was anything to measure against, I can only imagine. Although they are having some improvements done, the breakfast room is very small (also in need of attention) and we had to eventually ask someone for breakfast, queue for the toaster and only just had enough room at the table to eat. Only one of us could leave the table to fetch and carry.
