  I was given a free Sunday Telegraph in the morning

  Going into dinner in the evening, we were shown only a menu costing £37.50 each. No alternative was offered. Both the price and amount of food were grossly excessive. Even the chairs we sat in were uncomfortable. We left and went for a pleasant snack down the road, in a pub where the ambience was cosy, the chairs comfortable, and the meal cost about £20 for the two of us!

  Booking on-line. Checking in - this was done much better than checking out. Continental breakfast was good.

  Annoyingly I had to change rooms immediately after checking in. All the lights had fused. The cleanliness of my room was very good but many of the wall-to-wall carpets in the corridors were badly stained and/or worn.

  Helpful staff, good meals, requests dealt with quickly. Waiter at breakfast heard us talking about travel to airport and he asked reception for bbc travel up-date for us

  A hand rail is neede for safety outside bedroom no.15. My husband has a disability and was unable to negotiate these atairs without help

  Staff were friendly and made efforts to be accommodating. Food service and offerings were of good variety and quality.

  This hotel did not meet expectations in three primary areas: rooms; upkeep; and overall appearance / atmosphere. 1st Rooms: The rooms are barely adequate. Claimed renovations appeared to extend only to a new TV and shower fixture---the room badly needed new carpet and other furnishings. Our room included an unfinished space---perhaps intended as a closet---without rod, shelving, or door. The space provided for hanging inside the room was too short to accommodate a dress or overcoat. 2nd Upkeep: The hotel seems to have some sort of a water or mold problem. The hallways, particularly between the main part of the hotel and the rooms extention, have a very unpleasant and unhealthy smell. Assuming the problem was fixed in the renovation, perhaps the smell lingers in the carpet or other furnishings. In any case, it requires attention. 3rd Overall Appearance / Atmosphere: A few low cost improvements would dramatically improve the appearance and atmosphere of the hotel. The lighting throughout the hotel is overbright and harsh. A dimmer switch for the dining room and bar area would create a much more inviting atmosphere. There is a fire place in the lobby. Installing an electric fire in the fire place would create a space where guests would want to gather and linger. White cloths on the tables in the dining room for evening dining would hide the inexpensive furnishings and soften the industrial appearance of the room. The hotel obviously has history, playing up that history in the furnishings, particularly in the public spaces, would improve the overall experience. Also, without a car, one is quite isolated at the hotel. It would be helpful to have a shuttle of some sort to take guests into the downtown.

  "A pleasant overnight stay; we did not get to sample the restaurant as we were travelling with a baby, so relied on room service. Room service was pretty good. We'd stay there again if they could offer us a travel cot for the baby. " (107852487)

  The guy behind the desk was very helpful and even gave us free drinks. The hotel room was spacious, nicely decorated; the bathroom was also a good size and modern. All in all a clean, decent-sized room with mod cons. Slightly bigger than your typical Travel Lodge room, and with room service available.

  The hotel lobby carpet/furniture clashes in a major way! Not so keen on that decor. We also had to ring the bell a few times at the entrance before the person behind reception finally opened up for us; this may have been because we checked in Sunday night, and he seemed to be holding the fort alone and had been busy elsewhere. There was also a mix-up with what we booked on the internet and what had actually gone through to their system - however they gave us the lower price which was nice.

  The refurbishments are excellent, some spacious room, but other one in the oldest part of hotel are small, but beds are comfortable. The staff is very nice and attentive

  "The Bridge House Hotel is very comfortable, porviding a lovely view of the Reigate valley beneath. I was a little disappointed in the office staff who did not know much of the local area when we requested information. A local map at the desk would be good and the local tourist information number handy. In Australia we have regular courses for our staff on customer relations and how to improve things and I wondered if this is apporpriate for your hotels. Staff involvement and interest in the business gives them a more focused approach to their job and confidence to deal with their customers needs adequately." (107773895)

  With the hotel being refurbished recently everthing was very well appointed and comfortable.

  More care so the mould build up in the bathrooms is kept to a minimum.

  Helpful and friendly staff. Clean room.

  The first night it took an hour in the restaurant before my meal arrived and during that time I could not get anyone's attention to get even a glass of water to drink. When I ordered a dessert it took another hour to come and had icecream with it which I had not ordered but for which I was charged.

  Staff really friendly, especially the girl on reception when i checked in

  The only bad point was during the evening meal a young lady came round asking for charitable donations, which i thought was inappropriate as people are trying to enjoy their evening meal.

  The hotel in general is very dated with work being carried out, the carpark was stacked up with old chairs that need to be dumped and this is not a good first impression. .

  The rooms were spacious and clean and the staff friendly.

  Hairdryer not working and it took a while to sort out the bedside lights. As a family we had three rooms and there was no information relating to contacting other rooms directly by phone.

  "Hotel ok, when updated would be very good. Chap on reception needs to learn to use deoderant, and this was both days. Hotel generally clean. staff generally pleasant Cover over bed needed cleaning, very stained. Blankets need updating!! Rooms with own balcony very pleasant. Food generally of a high rating."   In desperate need of an upgrade. Long time since I stayed in a hotel with a Pink bathroom, pink tiles and pink lino, peeling off the floor!

  It was cheap and conveniently located for the Motor Show event I was working at.

  I couldn't get a good night sleep. My room needed better soundproofing desperately. I could hear every conversation, cough, door slam, floor squeak etc from the ajoining rooms and corridor.
