The hotel staff of the day managed to find us alternate accom albeit 1 star as the town was full!
Despite the reservation being confirmed in mid July through activehotels, when we arrived after a long day of travelling we were dismayed to find the hotel had no record of our reservation

Good location
The design of the room, with double French doors, made it impossible to have any ventilation at night. It was VERY hot.

The location of the hotel was not as stated on the web site, I believe that it stated 800 metres from town, and it was at least twice that from any appreciable shops and restaurants, and probably 3 miles from the main part of Laon. I think that if a hotel is on an industrial/factory estate this should be clearly stated on the web site.

Staff friendly and mostly efficient to good Overnight stay value for money (breakfast on the other hand not so good value- and see bad points)
The one unfortunate point: I asked for a non smoking room. Basically it might not have been possible- hotel could have been full and I did book late, and also checked in 19.45. However, the extract fan in the (enclosed- no window) toilet did not work and there was a BIG stink of stale cigarette in there. Of course I could have asked for a room change, but I was very tired and simply dealt with it myself: a good spray of aftershave! But the hotel could have also dealt with it. I returned to the room after my dinner and the smell was gone, so no problem in the end. Breakfast coffee was quite a bad coffee, and not available self help. It needed the waitress, who had other things to do so was not often around to supply. On the other hand... another cup of that coffee might not have been beneficial!

It was ideally situated for our journey to the Alps. It was useful to be able to check in at midnight.
We would have liked a kettle and drink making facilities in the room.

Conveniently situated for overnight stop. Easy access from main road. Very pleasant and helpful staff.

The location was very convenient as a stop-over as it was close to the autoroute and easy to find. The restaurant was good both for dinner and breakfast

Good value for money, excellent reception service. Hotel was very clean and the Staff very pleasant

Well situated hotel with comfortable room and friendly welcoming hotel staff. Unusually for a small hotel in France, the bathroom had a full size bath.

Inexpensive ideal for a one night stop en route home via the Tunnel, the restaurant was fine with very good service

Friendliness of staff, good facilities for meals, excellent value for money
The room we were originally allocated smelt strongly of smoke. There were no non smoking rooms. However we were transferred to another less smelly room without any problems.
