  "The food and grounds were outstanding, but the experience was overshadowed by being woken up so early." (108509847)

  Restaurant, staff and food were excellent. The grounds and scenery were outstanding.

  Having travelled 5 hours to get there and being faced with the 5 hour return journey the following day, we were very annoyed and disappointed when awoken at 7:00 a.m by someone cleaning the guttering outside our window, very loudly. I then had to drive back exhausted.

  Spacious room with lots of facilities in nice, characterful hotel set in beautiful grounds. Very relaxing feel.

  Bed was very bouncy, with poor quality mattress, which led to interrupted sleep. Knob on the radiator for adjusting the temperature was broken, so had to live with really overheated room. Also the shower seemed very old and not in good condition.

  Friendly,efficient staff. Excellent leisure facilities.Hotel set in beautiful grounds, nice and peaceful. You would never think that you were in a City location.

  We thought that the breakfast was a bit on the expensive side, therefore we didnt bother.

  Great location just outside Peterborough City Centre and the beautiful village of Orton is just a 5 minute stroll away, with local pubs and a local atmosphere.

  It's a Great Western('GW') hotel! Thats means there is GW beer mats, GW bedding, GW soap - you get my point!!??

  Hotel was lovely and charming. Our second room was comfortable and we enjoyed it very much.

  The first room assigned to us had a sewer smell and was very unpleasant The staff was very cooperative and moved us the next day to a chaming room which we enjoyed very much.

  The room was very nice.

  We got woken at 5.30am by the fire alarm and told to go outside where it was raining really hard and we did not get an apology from the hotel, all they said was they thought it happened because someone was smoking in there room.

  Good hotel - nice layout, building, beautiful grounds with mature trees. Good position for access in and out of the city.

  Fire alarm went off in the night 5am - no fire! Reception staff a little slow to respond at the desk occasionally - it is good to acknowledge the customer even if you are busy. Breakfast was not ready on Sunday at 8am - hot food did not appear until almost 8.30am although cereals etc were ready on time.

  "We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and we shall return! Because of the type of work we do we stay in hotels most weeks and I have to say that this was a good standard of hotel, the building was lovely, the price was extremely affordable and booking over the internet was easy. Overall we had a great time." (99993725)

  Although our stay was short we had a great time. The good in the bar next door was very good at lunchtime - we didn't get a chance to have dinner as we were attending a function in the evening. Breakfast was very good. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to use the swimming pool, but as we have relatives now in Peterborough we shall use the Hotel again and make time to use the facilities!

  "nice grounds,although the carpark was a little strange. the check in was swift and efficeint. the hotel overall was clean, and the decor pleasent, however the room lacked charm and felt a little dated. i can not say anything is really wrong about the rooms, so much isnt right. It felt more like a little family run b & b rather than a large chain. I guess i just expected the rooms to be a little better." (97479838)

  Nice hotel- good location.

  An isolated hotel. Staff very good- food appalling. I discovered that staff were not allowed to accept tips added to card charges- only cash in hand. Consequently the proprieters pocket all gratuities.

  Large room size. Free internet access in bedrooms via cable (not wi-fi).

  No traffic noise, but a very loud bang of the corridor door closing everytime someone went through! Only one person at reception so 5min+ wait for both checkin and checkout.

  "The exterior of the hotel suggests you are going to get more than you do from this hotel, its old and grand and one forgets that this is only a 3 star hotel. If you remember the rating then the experience is as you expect. Convenient for Peterborough, just 7 minutes from train station by taxi/car. Staff are welcoming and pleasant, rooms are larger than normal, clean and light. Bathrooms are clean if a little dated in decor and equipment - not a good power shower, and shower over bath. TV old style and had some issues. Free internet connection (unusual in UK hotels). All in all a pleasant and relaxing repeatable experience." (99517198)

  "The location of the hotel is deceptive when viewing a map as it is located between major roads. However, when you drive to the hotel and adjoining villege there is an immediate feeling of being in the heart of the country. A lovely location with easy access to and fro. The hotel itself certainly deserves another star having stayed at many hotels both in the UK and abroad, this hotel can compete with the best. From the elegent restaurant surroundings to the helpful staff, we certainly would have no hesitation in staying there again and also recommending it to others." (99417961)

  "The size of the room was brilliant, it was very classicly decorated and comfortable to be in. It was lovely and warm and the staff were courtious and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much and would happily stay again." (99761861)

  There wasn't any conditioner in the toiletries left in the bathroom and the bins were quite small.

  The setting was good and we liked the character of the buildings. There was lots of space and parking was plentiful.

  The waste of space and positioning of items such as kettle and mirrors. The only full length mirror was behind a door and placed to one side of the wall when there was space to hang it centrally. The decoration in the bedroom was dated and tired although clean. The furniture, including soft chairs and bed were also in need of updating. The bed was lumpy and we could feel the springs.
