  "excellent....wish we were still there!" (107490167)

  excellent building with bags of character. good location within short distance of city centre. bruges is my new "favourite place"...we loved it all!

  no tea making facilities in our room. we'll just make sure we bring a kettle next time!

  "The castle was beautiful on the outside as well as the inside, the artistic inside decor and furnishings were awsome. I wish I had done more research on the history of the castle as the books in the room were not in Enlgish." (97984233)

  The staff was exceptionally helpful to all our needs and in answering any questions about the area. The Castle was very clean. The grounds and the view were beautiful! It was like going back in time. Lots of history there. The town was not far from there. We did much exploring. I wish we were not rushed on our last morning, I would have signed the guest book but did not get a chance.

  "For us without a car, it was not so easy to get to and from the hotel into town (we misinterpreted 2/3 mile as two-thirds not the actual 5km!) - four journeys was 60 euros per day but the hotel was lovely and so charming we thought it was still worth it. If you're travelling with a car - don't stay in Bruges centre, defintely stay here! Just one request to the hotel - please, please could you translate some of your information into English and we would have really loved to read and learn a little bit of the history of the castle. Otherwise a wonderful stay" (99455091)

  the authenticity - this was not a chain hotel trying to create the ambiance of a castle, nor was it a sleek faceless operation. It was true fairy tale with real people, complete with hidden chapels and creaking doors! We would defintely stay again and recommend it to others.

  It was a shame that they don't provide a set dinner - we think it would be very popular, with guests and local residents
