There were no good points
The hotel was cold and poorly lit and carpeted. The facilities in our room were potentially dangerous as the kettle was too close to the TV. There were not enough points in the room for the equipment. All the furnishings were very shoddy and the bed was uncomfortable as you could feel the springs.The breakfast supplied had the very cheapest ingredients and the fruit was stale.

Ample parking
Drawers had dead flies in, cups not clean, kettle not clean, bathroom not properly cleaned. Bed not made or bin emptied on second day. Cereal and toast does not constitute a "Continental" breakfast. Very disappointed.

Staff friendly and check in / check out systems efficient. Easy access to rooms after hours.
Room had not been cleaned very well. Close to main road and traffic noise throughout night very loud.

Location, price, frendly.

Convenient location
Odd organisation - bar closed at 9pm. One outside door permanently unlocked rather than giving guests an outside key. Some staff a bit 'off hand'

Clean and comfortable
Not their fault, they were having an event night, but we had to go out for evening food as the hotel event food was not suitable for my daughter's dietry needs, and we found a dearth of restaurants in Bury, and those we did find required prior booking on a Saturday night.

The staff were helpful & friendly & room & facilities were clean & tidy
The mattress was rather uncomfortable; we could feel the springs in places. It took a long time for hot water to get to the wash hand basin so quite a lot of water was wasted.

Very good evening meal & good size pub garden (unfortunately you can hear the traffic). Comfortable and clean room.
The breakfast was very disappointing. As part of the bed and breakfast experience is the breakfast this would put me off recomending the hotel to anyone or staying again. If they put the price up slightly and included the full breakfast then I think it would be a better package.

The owners and staff were very friendly and welcoming. I was combining a business trip with pleasure as I was also visiting my daughter. It was great to know that I could access the building at any time and therefore was not tied to a curfew. The room was small but clean, tidy and comfortable. It was good value for money.

The bed was really comfortable and it was a lovely light room. Staff and service were really friendly.
The room was dated and tatty, very much in need of redecorating. The water heater and toilet flush were so noisy that we didn't feel we could use them at night. We were initially shown to the worng room and offered the wrong bill, although this was corrected immediately and without fuss when we pointed it out.

Very comfortable lounge downstairs, open fire nice touch, wine sold by the bottle is good. Bedroom was clean and warm.
bedroom needed a good overhaul, very old fashioned, would not have liked the room for longer than a couple of nights. A14 quite noisy.

i could not fault any thing with this hotel i aim to blog it well on the internet the people running this hotel are brilliant and we aim to go there again
NONE that i could blame the hotel for but any one who goes there on sat nav they will find that it does not take them to the hotel and that they should come off onto the old road not on the a14.

Staff really welcoming, friendly and helpful. Great facilities for children. Good parking area. Very convenient situation for both Bury and Newmarket. Nice old building with lots of character. Very pretty bedding in rooms with little extras such as iron, hair-dryer and fan. The outside seating area is pleasant.
Showers do not drain very well. Could do with a spring clean (cobwebs and dust around window areas). Crockery and cutlery need a good clean. Rooms at the back can be noisy due to the busy road.

-Four poster bed was a joke! -The window broke fell traping my finger causing it to bleed under the nail. -The toilet seat fell off whilst my girlfriend was sat on it -

Owners are passionate about the hotel. I hope they manage to improve their staff and service. The bus service to race days at Newmarket is a great idea.
Couldnt check in till after 2pm - floor in bedroom sloped very badly - very small double room - dinner was of poor quality and menu lacked enough choice (i.e. 4 starters, 4 main courses no mention of deserts) - hotel backed onto a busy road with noise - staff were unprofessional - kitchen staff found it difficult to prepare more than 4 breakfasts at one time

Friendly hotel, good location. Quiet concidering main road running past rear. resteraunt food good and prices reasonable.,
Noisy Saniflow system made me worried about waking up fellow guests every time toilet, sink or shower was used. Lack of morning staff made checkout slow.

Staff were welcoming and polite. The man in charge seemed to be doing every job in the hotel!
Lots of dead and alive flies round about the windows. The food was awful - not sure how you can go so wrong with spaghetti bolognaise and chili con carne!

Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent service. Food well presented and very good. Complimentary transport to and from venue was an excellent idea and made our stay even more pleasant.

only 1 tea bag in the room, and limited TV channels -- but these were not serious disadvantages

The room was clean and comfortable
There was an 18th Birthday party held on the night we stayed, which went on into the early hours of the morning and kept us awake. We were not offered any compensation for the lack of sleep we suffered or the inconvenience. The food in the restaurant was not as the menu billed - my caesar salad came with olives and salad cream instead of parmesan and caesar dressing!

apart from the owner the staff were courteous and friendly.
An extremely bad experience. We had booked in the hotel as they offer a free courtesy bus to the Newmarket races, which made us choose this hotel over other hotels. However, the owner who travelled with us on the bus did not leave the hotel untill 5.20pm, for a 6pm first race at Newmarket!!. Unfortunately we did not arrive at the course untill 7.15 meaning we missed the first 3 races. This ruined the night for me and my partner who i had arranged this trip as a suprise for her. My partner tried to tell the owner this problem upon checking out and rather than listen to constructive criticism continued to abuse her and calling her " a little madam", "if you was a man i would have chinned you". "If i was you sir i would trade you in". As believable as these comments are they were genuinely made by the owner. My partner is a respectable business lady and i am a professional and do not expect to be insulted in this manner.

Sense of history - the old building had been melded with the more modern facilities of an ensuite bathroom well.
Narrow winding staircase, and the inability to have a bigger room for 3 persons. The window coverings did not exclude the light.
