The owner and staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were excellent as were the evening meals, although there was a limited choice. There was plenty of hot water and good, soft towels and the central heating was put on as it was rather chilly at times.
The bed was a bit hard and, as the room we had was at the front of the hotel which directly fronts onto the A5 road, together with there being no double-glazed windows, it was rather noisy at times. There is no attached car parking, although a secure area a short distance away was provided.

On that night the chef had let them down so the owner rolled his sleeves up and became chef for the night and was then there first thing in the morning for breakfast. Don't be put off by the run down nature of the property on the outside, consided it to be faded grandeur. Nice breakfast as well and willing to accommodate early morning requests." (97029579)
It had all the amenities you would expect in a hotel.
The whole place needs a total cosmetic overhaul. Though please do not think that this detracted us from enjoying the stay. It was all slightly dated, the place would certainly benefit from a lick of paint. Our room was on the roadside and this meant it was tad noisy with traffic and throwing out of pub time.

Had to wait to get a space when we returned to the hotel at 830pm. The hotel was on the main A5 road and very busy. The noise was too much from outside." (97094301)
The bedroom was clean
Downstairs was very dark on arrival at 3pm in the afternoon and did not look very clean. This may have been due to the dim lighting. The bedroom was on the front of the hotel and was extremely noisy from the A5 road just outside the door and also from people leaving nearby pubs. We did not get to sleep until 3am.

A good 15 mile walk along Rver Dee is in easy reach...as is an historic walk around rear of hotel.. Staff are very helpful & friendly too" (97153640)

Room was clean, well presented and all equipment worked
Was told at check in that even though we were leaving at 7am we should be able to get a coffee/corn flakes etc before we go. At 7am the hotel was desserted and we had to unbolt the front door to leave - no big problem but why tell us otherwise?

Although thr front of the building is in need of some TLC the interior & rooms are clean, comfortable & well equipped. Both service & food were of a very good standard. Corwen & the surrounding area is of great historical interest with many very old & unusual buildings. The hotel provided plenty of information on these & this made our stay more interesting & enjoyable." (97068678)
Clean room, thick towels, tea making facilities, hairdryer, good food & service. Great & interesting location in historical building (with alledged ghost).
My particular view of the back of the chip shop was uninspiring. We were initially put off by the run down appearance of the front of the building. No sign of the ghost either, although the view of the graveyard from the bar was intriguing.

Our group of 3 couples had great fun and enjoyed our stay in spite of the awful weather. The hotel coped extremely well with all our muddy shoes from the Eisteddfod field, which was the event we were attending in North Wales. We mixed with the locals in the bar and the hotel coped with our noisy crowd with good humour. Good breakfast, and fresh fruit which is not always available in hotels. Even though we only had 1 evening meal the food and service was excellent." (99303619)

The room was clean, stocked with toiletries, coffee, tea etc. The telly worked well. Can't complain about it at all. I would have liked to have known more about where I could have parked my car, though I should have phoned the hotel and found out for myself in advance. Finding the reception was very diffficult. There is a bell to ring, but it was covered by the main door, which was wedged open. However, for the pice I paid I was very happy with my stay and it was easy to find and in a great location for exploring Snowdonia." (97067565)
The room was better than I was expecting
The rest of the hotel itself was a bit shabbier than I was expecting based on photos I'd seen on the internet.

Hotel staff were very helpful. Room was clean and comfortable.
We were overlooking the town square and got about 2 hrs sleep due to drunken locals shouting and screaming all night long. Not good as we had a race the next day. Also the only place to eat was the hotel and the menu was very limited.

one bedside light not working, shower in bathroom leaking, no shelving in bathroom, no brown bread or fresh fruit juice offered at breakfast

Convenient location for where we were visiting. clean bed linen and towels. Adequate breakfast.

The room ( family ) was very clean and tidy and smelled good. the Bathroom and Shower were great.
Only thing there that wasnt so good was that there werent any windows to open.

The single room was very 'single' - not room to swing the cat in. Could have done with some space to work in and on with the computer.
