November 20, 2011I liked the exterior, lighting, well preserved buildings.
Rooms were dirty, equipped with cheap equipment. Not worth the reviews as a superb place. No, its rather a ok for a overnight, but nothing more. Has no ventilation, no heating, only cooler. So if you want your rooms warm - wont be possible. If you want not to be in a 'sauna' after your shower - wont be possible either. No ventilation whatsoever. Double bed was something like 140cm in width. Fail.

November 7, 2011It is in a beautiful location with very good facilities. Excellent food and wines at reasonable prices.
There was a reluctance to take restaurant orders whilst we were sitting with pre-dinner drinks in he adjoining lounge.

November 4, 2011The location was great, very nice to be in the vineyards and centrally located. The idea of having a wine tasting on site is also nice.
The rooms are too small and on top of each other. We couldn't close the shutters as they were permanently bolted. Feels like we got the cheapest smallest room due to booking it on the internet ! No bin in the room, no change of towels, rationed shampoo etc, all small things that make the stay nicer. The breakfast was a disaster - several people waiting for the buffet to be replenished, no coffee, no bread, very basic spread for a breakfast of 16 € ! The staff were not friendly and not service oriented. Although we loved the location, we won't stay there again.

September 28, 2011Location mainly. Beautiful vineyard and the ability to taste their own wines which are reasonably priced.Able to do breakfast in comfort in your room.
The dinner was very disappointing and very expensive. We were misled into believing there was a 26 euro set menu but this is only available at lunchtime. The restaurant was full of visitors having a set meal after visiting the cave dressed very casually when residents had made the effort to be smart expecting a pleasant meal. We felt the outsiders!

September 26, 2011Interesting hotel, as adjunct to a vineyard. Despite being in the countryside, it had good facilities and dining, so there was no need to go elsewhere. It was efficient and organised. The "Cave" and craft shops were interesting and had passionate people in them.
However, the hotel staff seemed lacking in passion and interest in the job, or so it seemed to me. It felt a bit soul-less, and thus would deter me from a second visit.

September 20, 2011The wine tasting that was given as part of the trip was really a nice touch and the excellent young lady (Arabella) was 1st class in making it special. As a result we decided to buy all our wine for the following week for a stay in a Gite in the Pyrenees. We hope you have a good harvest in 2011.

September 11, 2011This hotel is perfect for a short stay and to visit some cities in the surrounding, but totally not suitable for a beach holiday or relaxing at the hotel. The hotel looks very neat and also the restaurant is very good. It’s clean, beautiful location, but for not more than 2 nights is our opinion.
As mentioned, no relaxing possibilities such as a balcony (there are rooms that have one, our room was located at the front, on the ground floor)

September 2, 2011This location was a little difficult to find but very much well worth the effort. What a very pleasant surprise. We were warmly greeted and shown two very nice rooms with views of the vineyard or courtyard. We were given a complementary wine tasting and tour. The wine was outstanding. Dinner was lovely out on the courtyard. We ran throughout the vineyard in the morning and then had a coffee on the patio. We can only say that it was one of the highlights of our holidays. A truly a great experience on our adventure In the south of France. Extremely good value for money.

August 28, 2011The location and surrounding countryside was fabulous, and we would recommend it to family and friends. The close proximity to Narbonne plage was perfect for us. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite and the chef was happy to cook a vegetarian meal for my husband at dinner. The room was clean and modern and the gratuitous bottle of wine was a nice touch. We enjoyed looking at the small selection of shops on site and the wine tasting was great. I would stay at Chateau L'Hospitalet again.
The room was a little smaller than I imagined but was very adequate. I thought it was a shame that the pool didn't open until 10am as we would have like a swim before breakfast and we had to check out by twelve. Also check in time from 4pm I feel is very late in the day. I feel 2pm would be better suited.

August 19, 2011The locatiobn within the vineyards is wonderful. The Hotel with a number of buildings provides a lot of opportunities to enjoy a nice stay. However, potentials are not used. Staff tries to be helpful, but very often struggles with their level of training. Staff is changing every year. Wine testing is a good idea.
We are coming to L'Hospitalet for five consequtive years always hoping Hotel Management will do something about improving level of service. This year we could again not recognize a substantial improvement. Indeed service has gone worse. Room was not ready before 18h. Pool does not provide towels. There are many other aspects which you would not expect at a Hotel at this level and at this price. The given features do not justify the high price for rooms and food.

August 15, 2011The location of the hotel is good as it is not too far from the beaches but it is secluded enough to have peace and quiet. The room was great with views over the vignards on either side of the room. The garden and the pool looked lovely and it was great to have the little shops and winery on site. We booked 2 different rooms on 2 subsequent days, which meant we were to move rooms after the 1st night, thankfully the hotel managed to secure the same room so we didn't have to move rooms.
The standard and services are in need to be greatly improved for the price that you pay for. My towel wasn't changed despite having left it in the shower. It was rehung next to the shower. I had to call reception to get a fresh one. The service in the restaurant was mediocre whether it was for dinner or breakfast. I don't know if these people were trained but being french I felt ashamed of the attitude of the staff towards the customer. They not once smiled and customers had to ask for refills and plates at breakfast repeatedly. The menu lacked of creativity with only 1 set menu with 2 choices for each course, considering they advertise themselves as a "Restaurant Gastronomique".

August 9, 2011The stunning setting, actual building, buzzy restaurant, artisan shops and vineyard attached.
The hotel did not live up to its billing or pricing as it is positioned as premium yet we had to queue up to pay our bill after dinner, were given plastic glasses in our bedroom, and a very thin sofa bed for the kids to sleep on which was not comfortable at all, and the breakfast was poor with cold, stewed coffee and no hot food choices. The meal in the restaurant was passable but bland - not something that we are accustomed to in France, and we come regularly to the area as we own a house nearby. The hotel's setting and buildings were delightful though and the wine was excellent.

August 4, 2011nice bathroom, was pleasant to get a bottle of wine as a welcome gift, friendly bar staff, an opportunity of wine tasting right at the hotel
although the basic room is ok and could have been better as we were really disappointed by the wall in our room which was a bit dirty and scruffy

The surroundings were peaceful and the garden was very well kept with lovely colourful flowerings and trees. We were upgraded to a deluxe room for free just after we booked the hotel but the deluxe room was nothing special, it looked like the classic room. We took a walk around the grounds and up on top of a nearby hill there was a spectacular panoramic view of the sea and vineyards. The food and desert at the hotel were top class but the portions were small.
I didn't like that you had to reserve your dinner. It made my boyfriend and I feel pressurised to dine there. Breakfast was €16.00 per person The swimming pool and sun beds around it were dirty with bits of twigs from the trees above with bird droppings and the pool wasn't heated. We didn't feel very welcome and some more interactive would have been nicer. The toilet roll holder was broken in our bathroom. We left a sign out for our room to be cleaned while were out for the whole day at Narbonne Plage but house keeping never came. When we advised reception they offered to move us to a new room but we didn't want the hassle. You would definitely need a car to stay there as taxis are very expensive. We had to pay €50 to get to the beach one day which was a very stressful amount of money to pay. I found the art in the hotel alright but the twisted metal pieces of so called art in the surroundings in the vine yards were an eye sore and looked out of place.
