Alexandra & Victoria Hotel
The hotel had a very "faded elegance" feel about it and is in need of some tlc! Would have been ok if not for the tv and shower experiences!!
Staff were friendly and there was parking off-street in front of the hotel.Breakfast was reasonable.
The room was clean but the entrance to the hotel area where the room was situated was tatty and had a well worn appearance. The tv in the room would not work and we had to remind the staff twice in order to get something done.Once repaired, I got it working more by luck than judgement! Some instructions on how to manage the combination of tv and separate freeview digibox would be useful.The shower was downright dangerous in that it was an electric shower heater with no thermostatic control.Every time anyone turned on a cold tap anywhere, the shower temperature setting was upset and the water went to scalding hot and then back to cold as soon as the cold water pressure was restored - a very dodgy experience and worse than anything we have ever experienced anywhere else in any hotel in the world.
