May 27, 2011We were very disappointed. Having been in the trade and well travelled we know the differance between a hotel that is a bit shabby, but full of charm and people that care and a hotel that quite frankly relies on its'functions for income and doesn't give a dam about any other guests. There was one chap, a manager (or even owner)?, Who was trying his best to smooth things over for everyone...but I feel it is a losing battle. Can't see it being there in it's present form for long !!!!
Some of the younger, (and I hasten to add, foreign)staff were very polite and friendly.
Receptionist was rude on arrival, indicating she clocked off in 2 mins (6.30 pm). Room was poor and bathroom tiny (thank god we are not overweight). Had to wait ages to get served a drink (bar person disappeared for ages).Served our bar food in a restaurant set up for a wedding !!whist standing at reception a single lady was given a family room as that was all they had whilst we as a couple had been shoved in what should have been a single room (although it had a double bed). In fact there were only towels for 1 person in the room on our arrival (so I suspect it was only meant for 1 person.)

April 6, 2011Most enjoyable
Pleasant staff, cleanliness of the hotel, having our breakfast brought to our table and we are able to retain our room key until departure. We have used this hotel on several occasions and have always been happy with our accommodation.

June 4, 2011Ok, but we would not hurry back here
The bathroom was clean, and the bed sheets were crisp and white.
We had to call reception to ask for the sink in our bedroom to be cleaned, as it contained someone elses hairs (probably from emptying out their electric razor) also, all of the cabinet surfaces in the room were dusty. The full English breakfast was good, but it was served to you, and there was not enough - we only got 2 mushrooms each!

April 15, 2011Prompt service at breakfast. Close to town centre & rail.
Holes in bedsheets. Shower head fell off while using. Watery orange juice (it may even have been squash) at breakfast. Noise at night from road/rail due to poor secondary glazing. Clock radio in room broken and misshapen. Car park full of vans, so spaces for cars v limited (and car door was damaged).

May 3, 2011Thoroughly recommended - friendly, clean and excellent value for money!
Excellent fooda and friendly, efficient service; comfortable bed and clean room; overall excellent value for money.
Cold continental breakfast available for early departures is helpful but some hot meal would be preferable to start the day if possible eg self- service microwave perhaps? Single room a little cramped but adequate for a one night stay.
