November 16, 2011Stratton House situated just off a main road but very quiet, has a charming walled garden and is an attractive building with pleasant comfortable rooms. The staff are very welcoming and helpful, contributing to a warm and relaxed atmosphere.
This could so easily be a 4 star hotel with a little attention to detail: fresh coffee, a more imaginative menu, updated rooms and bathrooms which are beginning to look shabby and worn.

November 2, 2011The ambiance Excellent staff Relaxed atmosphere Lovely outlook (garden, etc.) Good facilities
They allow dogs - not hygenic - I don't want to think that a dog was in my room previously - the barking woke me up. If they have to allow them, then they should dedicate specific rooms

October 29, 2011Not a complaint, just a remark to the effect that the main reception areas and room interiors would all benefit from updating.

October 18, 2011My husband & I only stayed for one night. Our room was clean & comfortable. The english breakfast was very good, where we met two experts from the tv program Bargain Hunt, who were also staying at the hotel.
The only complaint that I have is that the tv reception was terrible, the picture kept breaking up.But it could have been transmitter problems

October 4, 2011Peace and quiet. The room was nice but quite oldy worldy. Bathroom okay - a tad tired. Food was good and reasonably priced - they were doing 3 courses for £20 a head.
Service was poor. Arriving at 14:00 as requested coincided with the kitchen closing! We were offered a sandwich by the receptionist who was very nice and helpful but I wanted a bit more than a ham sandwich! We went into town to get a late lunch. On returning we wanted a bottle of wine in the garden/patio. The bar was empty, a sign said to go to reception. I asked a young man politley for a bottle of wine and he barked at me saying that I would have to wait as he was on his own and serving someone else! So I went and sat in the garden - for 15 minutes, returning to the bar the young man did eventually serve me. I thought his manner was a tad unfortunate albeit he was busy but it gave me the hump! - I felt I was an imposition.

August 28, 2011Dining and bar staff were efficient and friendly and the food was excellent.
Reception staff were not as welcoming or as courteous as would be expected given that they are the first impression guests have of the hotel and staff.

July 18, 2011This is a beautiful hotel with a very interesting history, I would love to see a composition of that history in pictures around the place. The only thing that lets it down is the two lounges. It's like walking into an old peoples home, it's just the soft furnishings that really desperately need changing, and to make it more contemporary would not cost much. The breakfast was excellent, as was the service, and although I didn't eat there for dinner, I heard it was excellent too. The staff are a credit to the place, although reception needs a bit of attention.
Not much to dislike really, as I mentioned before, a bit of money spent on the lounges would make a huge difference.

We just needed a 'no fuss' base for a brief trip to the Cotswolds, and this fitted the bill exactly. Very pleasant and clean, within easy walking distance of the charming town of Cirencester. Excellent base for a visit to the Royal International Air Tattoo.
