May 11, 2011Not as bad as it sounds really.Just could do with upgrading (bathrooms,tv's)and better hall cleaning.
Staff were friendly.Bed was comfy.Breakfast quite good.
A bit shabby, and cleanliness in the halls and on the stairs was a bit slapdash.Chips dropped on the stairs on Saturday night were still there on Monday morning. At the price we paid,£98 per night,we feel breakfast shouldn't be extra, though we did get a discount, after being told by others with us,that this was on offer.Check-in clerk hadn't mentioned it.LOTS Of down-and-outs sitting at the front of the hotel drinking(and urinating).Too hot in the room, and the windows wouldn't open.

April 5, 2011Hotel needs to be shut down, gutted, and completely refurbished. One guest commented that it needed dragging into the 20th century, never mind the 21st!
Check out was quick.
Tired furniture and decor. Peeling wall coverings in bathroom. Mould and dust in corners of bathroom. Shower sprayed water backwards as well as forwards! Breakfast worst ever eaten. £11 was a ridiculous price, and even the special offer of £5 was a rip-off. Congealed bacon in chunks had to be peeled apart. Much of toast was burned, and those bits that weren't, tasted of carbon. Toast was limp and chewy and had obviously been around for a fair anountt time. Whe use tinned tomatoes when fresh ones are freely available?

May 12, 2011Non-Scouser staff, particularly the above-ref duty manager, were very civil and helpful. Overall, despite wi-fi (which I presume is normally working) an acceptable stay at the price.
Room (154) was good, clean and comfortable. Bathroom was great, although water could have been hotter (was, however, adequate).
Being born in Liverpool many years ago (now resident in Canada), I was not surprised by surly front desk staff (the "Scousers" I.E. Liverpudlians, I mean!)and it wasnt very busy, so no excuses there! Also, one reason for staying at Adelphi was free wi-fi...but it wasn't working, despite the best efforts of the duty manager.
