January 2, 2012Location was excellent, just off the motorway so easy to find. We were attending a friends wedding, the venue was ideal for what the couple wanted. We were all able to enjoy the day regardless of the weather and then stay overnight with cooked breakfast in the morning.

December 15, 2011Convenient location close to motorway but still close to open countryside as well as several large towns. Comfortable old style hotel with friendly and helpful staff.
The only thing I found wrong was that I couldn`t get any food during the afternoon.

December 8, 2011It was convenient for meeting friends. The room was basic but it did include a bath as requested. Also there was no motorway noise in the rooms.
The second night was charged at a higher price which wasn't highlighted when booking the room.

December 3, 2011Convenient and friendly best english breakfast for a long time anywhere
Motorway noise can only be minimised by closing all windows making the rooms stuffy bed mattress old and sloppy all looking a bit tired shower curtains are naff, first thing you smell on entering the bedroom is the shower curtain

November 17, 2011Good location for meeting up with a friend from other end of the m62 Very close to motorway but well sound-proofed,pleasant rooms Food reasonable for price, good breakfast Would have helped if your web-site had indicated I could book an allinclusive rate(to include dinner and Breakfast)but staff sorted that out

November 13, 2011The friendliest most helpful staff we have ever come across. Lovely building, comfy rooms great value food.....however there is a lot of traffic noise from motorway right outside which would be a problem in summer with windows open.

October 18, 2011Pleasant staff,comfy bed and a nice breakfast
We couldn't open the window as there was a glass acreen screwed over the window. The room was far too hot and uncomfortable as there was no air and this would probably put us off staying there again unless we could have a room with a window that opened.

October 8, 2011Good location. Acceptable food. Helpful staff.
I have stayed here over the years, perhaps twenty, and seen many changes. However it is overdue for a refit and would benefit from some professional advice on decor.I Remember as a schoolboy when it was the Golf Club and the colours are pretty much the same! Given the exposed site some kind of porte cochere would be appreciated.

September 23, 2011Hotel comfortable and well placed for my business visit which was the reason for staying. Nice atmosphere in bar, and busy enough during my stay.
Shower in room was dissapointing as there was not very much water emitted from it. Bar food and restuarant menu, whilst extensive did not appeal very much and I found it difficult to choose something on both evenings of my stay, which I do not normally find a problem.

My room's carpet was fairly shabby and some of the furniture was rather tired, though the bed was good.

August 11, 2011Upon arrival we were not booked in, although we had booked through the internet. We had arrived in the morning and weren't surprised when the room was not ready. The Receptionist was extremely helpful and said that we could leave our bags and the room would be ready for us when we reappeared mid-afternoon after the Christening we were attending. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the room (No. 4) very clean and just what we wanted. Absolutely no complaints - a very good evening meal which was excellent value.

July 6, 2011It was very quiet.
Unfortunately I arrived for dinner at 20:30. This seemed to late for the hotel. I ordered a medium steak from the restraunt menu which arrived with everything deep fried. Chips, mushrooms, onion rings, all ozzing with grease. The steak was over cooked I complained and got free cheese and biscuits, but not enjoyable. Reception staff was busy leaning out the window having a smoke. Budget hotel and you get what you pay for.

July 5, 2011I stayed here in 2010 with a friend and it was a good experience. This year I returned with my husband as we were visiting family in Yorkshire. As before the hotel was great. The price is very good value for money and the staff are wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble. Jo on reception is a credit and a valuable asset to The Golf House. We will definitely return when we are in Yorkshire again.

Attending a wedding function, liked the multi room arrangement.
Lack of dinning facilities after 9pm, no restaurant or room service.
