April 19, 2011Don't be fooled by pretty poictures on the web site. It is a beautiful old building in an attractive location that has been spoilt by cheap, tasteless "refurbishment". More significnatly, the bedroom was probably the most dirty and disgusting hotel I have ever visited. I would not choose to stay in this hotel again if someone paid me.
The receptionist was friendly and helpful and breakfast was to an acceptable standard
The room was generally dirty and, in parts, disgusting. Highspots were clumps of human hair on the bedding and pubic hair in the bath and on the bathroom floor. The bedcovers were dusty and stained - as was the carpet. The wall had a series of stain lines running out of the light switch. There was a function on Saturday night. THe proximity of our room meant that we "enjoyed" the bass from the disco until 1am and were unable to sleep. No prior warning was given - either when booking or checking in. The way our complaint to the duty manager about the state of the room and noise was dealt with was hopeless.
