November 28, 2011Was a very relaxed atmosphere, accepted my two young children into the hotel with no issues. Staff where polite and helpful.
No beans at breakfast. Thats all,but it was still nice. The water is extremely hot(just short of boiling), For this temperture a warning should be given.

January 5, 2012We stayed only one night to attend a Memorial Service at the Cathedral but found everything very satisfactory. A railway station in Ripon would be convenient -Thirsk station is a bleak place on a wet night.

December 15, 2011Beautifully presented hotel. Couteous and helpful staff. Lovely room and bathroom. Clean. Comfortable bed and pillows which I often struggle with in hotels. Excellent food in bistro. They telephoned us prior to our arrival to warn us that there was a function on and that they'd put us on the 2nd floor to minimise noise. We'd had to book a twin room originally due to booking quite late and they remembered that we'd requested a double if one became available, which it did!
Drinks in bar expensive which I realise is usual for hotels so no surprise there.

December 14, 2011Hotel staff were very friendly. Hotel is very well located for town/cathedral etc. Has been an impressive building and still is although the upkeep must be expensive and there are one or two signs that decor needs to be kept 'on top of . Meals in Turf bar and breakfast were very good and on the whole we enjoyed our stay and would return.'
The room we stayed in was very nice but a little cold and the heating system seemed a little archaic and was not working very well. This needs to be addressed as Dec. Is not the warmest of months to be staying with limited heating. We did ask Reception about the heating and was told it was on a timer, however the radiators remained cool throughout our stay and if not for a blow heater found in the wardrobe things would have been very chilly- pity as we had no other qualms and would return again

December 8, 2011Friendly welcome - efficient & easy check in - comfortable room (quite spacious for a single room) - relaxing lounge with really warm log fires - excellent choice of breakfast - very enjoyable break - gardens & grounds most attractive, even more so had the weather been better so they could have been enjoyed to the full.

December 3, 2011Central location, rang in advance to advise there was a dinner dance so might be some nosie till midnight but we had been located on 2nd floor furtherst away. Good breakfast although cooked breakfast was precooked buffet style the sausage and bacon was very tasty.
Much below standard I would expect from Best Western and way over proced at £69 per night, was no better and not as clean as a Travel Lodge which are much cheaper. Room was cold, no radiator on in December, no speical touches to make it welcoming. No iron.

November 28, 2011I went to stay at the Ripon Spa Hotel for a business trip. I found it to be a friendly and comfortable hotel, with large rooms and corridors. In fact, I decided to bring along the whole family the following day to stay in the family room. Dinner in the bar/lounge was excellent, the breakfast was hearty, and the staff were accommodating. It felt like a home from home.

November 24, 2011We stayed there last year and were so pleased with the hotel, the helpful and friendly staff, the location etc we were determined to return as soon as we could. The rooms are spacious and comfortable to spend time in. The hotel is close to Fountains Abbey and locations such as Brimham Rocks.

November 23, 2011Lovely room - one of the comfiest beds I've ever slept in!!! Lovely food in the bar and friendly, helpful staff throughout the hotel. Great breakfast, with a view out onto the beautiful grounds. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Just around the corner from the town centre, but enough of a distance to be nice and quiet.

We enjoyed the relaxing but very professional manner and helpfulness of the staff, reception staff and dining room staff. The surroundings are dignified ,some areas require updating but hopefully this work is in progress on a planned schedule. The beds were comfortable and clean, the hot water was very hot no matter what time of day it was used for bathing or showering. We booked on a bed and breakfast deal on the hotels website the day before we went to the hotel. The price was ideal, good value for money. The breakfast was excellent, dining room staff helpful but not intrusive. We ate in beautiful surroundings. We shall visit again.
Only one small point ,that there was a black mouldy mark approx.2 Feet by one and a half foot on the corner of the ceiling in our room.I Presume this will be rectifed as the hotel is redecorated.I Do hope so.
