Dating back to 1621, the Central Hotel retains many original features and is accessed by an old cobbled courtyard. Its rooms each have a flat-screen TV and on-demand movies, along with tea and coffee-making facilities.
The breakfast room and the restaurant retain their charming old stone ceilings. A buffet breakfast is served each morning.
Guests can relax outside the hotel, where there is a huge outdoor plasma screen and heated seating areas.
Within a mile’s walking distance are Holyroodhouse Palace, Festival Theatre and the National Museum. Princes Street Gardens and Edinburgh Castle can be reached in 10 minutes on foot.
