May 9, 2011Ok
Room rate was very competitive
Staff at bar and breakfast were fartoo casual. Example: I asked for a spoon to eat my cerial, the girl said 'they were on the table'. I informed they were not. She checked, noticed they were missing and said 'I'll let you off this time@

April 23, 2011I think the staff tried their best to rectify the problem. The hotel its self is very old and run down and in need of updating. We were offered an evening meal as compensation but we already had made arrangements to eat out. I only stayed at the connaught because it was near my family member. I will not be staying at this hotel ever again.
Sorry no good points
The 1st room we where given was awful. My children wanted to go and stay elsewhere. It was so dirty and and the room very gloomy. We where offered another room, it was a little better. We had a Graduation to attend and so time was not on our side. We settled for the 2nd room offered but I was not happy.

April 12, 2011It was a bad experience and I will let all the travel website know of this. I will never never ever stay in that hotel.
No good point. The only consolation is that I manage to get the free breakfast as a small compensation.
Website say that they have free wifi in whole hotel. We did not have in our room [73]. When we complained, they said that it was a free service and not guaranteed. Later that night when we wanted to have a shower, there was only hot burning water coming out. We called the reception and a man come over to check. He admitted that was something wrong but there was nothing he could do to repair this. He gave us a key to another room [61], one two floor down to have our shower. It was very inconvient. In the morning I complained to the front dest and they though I was mad and did not know how to run a shower. Only when I challenged one of them to follow me up and show me just one drop of cold water. A member of the staff did come and only hot water. The reception agreed that we were wronged but "we can not do anything" was the end reply. Really a bad hotel.

May 23, 2011I have to admit, we had pressing business back in Birmingham, so in the end we did not sleep over at the Hotel, but instead, picked up our belongings and just drove straight home. That being said, The Connaught seems like it would have been very comfortable and excellent value for money. We would book there again next time in the area.
The inside is not at all what you'd expect from the outside. It's a pleasant hotel with a nice looking restaurant, friendly staff, super clean rooms and big beds.
The location is not super welcoming. There is a boarded up building on the approach next door and When approaching from outside, you think "this looks a bit depressing". (However, the inside is quite a nice surprise.)

April 10, 2011Miserable and refused a refund. Two single beds pushed together is not a double room, no point complaining because they just don't listen because hey are always right, avoid at all costs this poor excuse of a hotel.
To many to mention

April 14, 2011The rooms need updating and equipment in the room should be checked to make sure they are working the lady on reception when told about the lack of basic channels said well there isn't anything they could do couldn't move me because they were fully booked. Once rooms are updated with flat screen televisions this could be a very lovely hotel and then I would stay again until then I wouldn'T.
Staff that came to my room was very nice and friendly and helpful. When I did say about the T.v I did get a refund
The remote control wasn't working, the television only showed channels 3,4 & 5 and I wanted to watch something on bbc 1. The floor could of been cleaner, pillows too soft.

June 5, 2011Cheep and cheerful. In need of a decor update, but good value for money overall. I hope my experience isn't common place, but hard to tell.
Cheap and a good location for where we needed to go.
I left a pair of hired dress shoes in my room and when I called back the next day to see if they'd been handed in, they hadn'T. Unfortunately that leads me to beleieve they may have some unhonest cleaning staff, unless they like to pass on the keys without checking the rooms themselves.
