November 28, 2011Friendly, helpful staff. Nice clean warm room. Good English breakfast. Very welcoming atmosphere, and dog friendly. Would definately stay there again.
The only negative thing I could say, is that the pub does not open before 6pm in the evening, and you cant check in before this time. Which is a bit of a shame, if your only staying the night.

November 7, 2011Nice pub, friendly welcome on arrival from the barman. Nice room.
Breakfast did not fit with the time I had to leave the hotel and I was not given any reduction on my room rate which included breakfast. The bar man did phone the owner about getting me a reduction but was told 'no' I thought that this was a little mean.

October 16, 2011It was convenient for 1 night on route home enabling us to visit Rutland Water the next day. No problem parking as large car park at rear, Quite a good choice on menu and chefs specials of the day. Very reasonable price for B&B - - you get what you pay for!!
Overall it is in need of some serious TLC - appeared ok at night, but in the broad light of day a good paint and some new decent clean carpets everywhere would help, especially in the conservatory/restaurant. Our room was on the small side but a very comfortable bed - shower room basic and bit spartan. Would not have enjoyed staying more than one night!

October 15, 2011Friendly staff; external access to room; spacious bathroom with instant hot water and powerful shower; excellent breakfasts; convenient for visiting Barnsdale Gardens and Rutland Water Nature reserve.
No booking-in facility before 6pm; bedroom walls rather thin.

October 14, 2011The location for us was the main criteria for us staying at the Old Plough, but we enjoyed the character and old world charm of the place of the place and the bar area was full of old world nostalgia. The evening meal and breakfast was well cooked and most enjoyable. We would like to thank the staff for making our stay a very pleasant and relaxing.
That the room we stayed in didn't reflect the old world charm of the bar.

September 21, 2011A character room in the eaves of a period building, A good power shower to start the day. A good breakfast served in the Conservatory Restaurant area. Ample car parking.
Soundproofing between rooms could have been better.

September 12, 2011The Old Plough is a cute little pub in Braunston in Rutland. We spent one night there and it was perfect for our needs. The pub is great, the rooms were clean and the staff were extremely friendly. Breakfast was nice - nothing fancy, but
The walls are a little thin, but a couple more pints in the pub and you won't even notice.

September 12, 2011I was very suprised at the quality of an Inn which was so reasonable. It was one of the fewplaces where the solo travelor is actually given a reduced rate .I was expecting a very small room and instead got a lovely double bed with plenty of space and a large bathroom. It was very well furnished and had tea and coffee facitities tv and pretty toiletry bottles. I would have no hesitation in recommending this Inn, which by the way had delicious home made food and very friendly and helpful staff.
The only thing against it would be the outside staircase which, if you are not too good on your legs could be a problem. Also some lampshades in the hall would add to the overall feel

September 7, 2011Nice rural location in a small village. The Old Plough is one of two pubs in the village and serves good food at reasonable prices. There is a restaurant or you can eat in the bar.
The building is quite old, so soundproofing is minimal. Our room was over the bar, so we heard most of what was going on downstairs. The bar closes at 2300, so no real problem there.

August 16, 2011A friendly and homely establishment in a beautiful, rural location, with a truly comfortable double bed, and a great cooked breakfast in the morning.
I booked four rooms in total, and although my room was fine, two of the showers in our group failed to work, one without hot water and the other without any water at all. The guy in charge apologised but failed to offer any discount for inconvenience. Disappointing.

August 1, 2011Location, situation, the room was comfortable. Being able to nip downstairs for a pint in the evening.
Despite it being on a minor road it was quite busy and noisy at times. Earplugs recommended if you are alight sleeper,

Good, friendly service. We had an evening meal in the bar - it was basic 'pub grub' but very enjoyable. Excellent breakfast. Bed was comfortable.
Bathroom needs a refurb- adequate for our needs, but quite old-fashioned & in need of some tlc.
