Hotel description
The Duke of Wellington is an ivy-clad traditional eighteenth century inn located in Danby, near Whitby. The hotel is an ideal base for exploring the Moors, Whitby and the coast.
Built in 1732, the Inn was used as a recruiting post during the Napoleonic Wars. An iron plaque of the Duke of Wellington was recently uncovered on the outside of the building and has been mounted on the fireplace in the bar. April 28, 2011A good English pub location. We were blessed with superb weather which always helps and it was an ideal location for exploring the local countryside.
Very clean and comfortable in a lovely village setting in the North York Moors. Freshly cooked breakfast was excellent and evening meas, whilst on a fairly typical Pub style, were also very good and at a reasonable price.
Our bedroom was fine but the bathroom was extremely small and although it was very clean and everything worked properly, it would not suited anyone with a physical disability.
