April 26, 2011I loved the old history and was comfortable, and the place is clean in all respects.
The young women who was at the reception should be given another job and certainly not as a reseptionist as her attitude and personality is substandard. I mentioned to her that the front door had been locked and I could not make a quick excape and she informed all I had to do was read the poster where it says ring "0" and I said how would that help and she came back with a quick rude manner that the Caretaker would come and let you out and I said how do we know this and she grabbed a single page intruction form that appeared to be laminated. I further went on and said if the place was full of smoke how could one find it read it and then have the presents to ring the bell if you could find it and she turned her back on me and left me standing there. I spoke to a senior women the following day and she to did not know the proper drill and it was not until I spoke to a women on the day I booked out and who has worked there for some 6 years told me it should never be locked and followed up with an explanation that made sence. The other issue I advised the youg rude lady that I thought the back bar was being cased out one indivual who had 2 mates outside while the one inside was acting strange and was definetly up to no good. I told the girl this and she remarked it is ok as he was after a glass of water and once again had no interest in what I was on about. The issue with the young man wanting a drink is he had previosly was given a glass of water by a previous employee she had just 5 miutes later given him another glass of water and then left him alone in the bar. I felt sorry for the owners and I just made my self stay around until all 3 had left. The service at night was very slow although the staff were freindly, the soup took 35 miutes to arrive and the main I gave up waiting and asked them to deliver it to my room. In Finishing over all except for your receptionist the establishment was fine but, your reception staff need to be very alert and happy and that is where you need to address. I doubt if I will stay there again paticularly if I have to deal with your confronting style receptionist. Thanks, Bruce Mitchell
Your front sales people (receptionist) out of 10..you get 3.

Lovely hotel in beautiful setting
Reception and restaurant (breakfast) staff friendly and efficient. Good breakfast.
Bath tiny. Not many drawers for clothes. Wouldn't be able to stay comfortably for a long visit, but quite accepatble for 3 nights
