March 22, 2011Would come back, was very central and welcoming. Loved the ale!
Historic building which was interesting architectually. The real ale bar was well stocked and much appreciated. The location was convenient for everything being so central. Good shower and bathroom facilities. Good breakfast.
Everything was on a slope, you couldn't put anything on the bedside tables as everything fell off. Restaurant menu was very pedestrian and lacking in imagination. Everything felt like it needed an overhaul and a good clean.

May 23, 2011A happy visit to Gloucester (a Town with "potential" yet to be fully realised)and the Hotel suited my needs for a Students' Reunion held at that time.
Relaxed atmosphere; evening meal adequate; breakfast "over-generous".
I felt the hotel was something of a fire hazard and planned my route carefully, "just in case". A colony of pigeons were roosting overhead and woke me very early both mornings of my stay.

Quaint, historic old building, convenient for the Cathedral, could have been quieter (??double glazing) rowdy at chucking out time and noisy residents at 2am
The room was quite large by English hotel standards, on first impressions it was clean.
The window in the bathroom was in a disgusting state, desperately required a clean and some paint. The double glazing? Was completely broken, I caught my fingers whilst attempting to close it. The windows needed a clean inside and out. The bedroom window double glazing was also useless and again the glazing of both the non-existent double glazing were both dirty, inside and out. The grime on the outside of the windows would indicate that they had not been cleaned for months. The carpet was badly stained, the tv "Hotel Inspector" would have had a field day!! Breakfast was fine, however the bar staff chose to ignore me standing at the bar with cash in my hand (note) waiting to be served. Went elsewhere! Cannot recall any mention of the parking facilities which added expense at £14, apparently with a discount agreed between the hotel and council for the overnight stay. Would have chosen an upmarket hotel out of town if I had been aware of this excessive charge.
