January 16, 2012Staff were very obliging and allowed us to change rooms upon request since we'd been allocated a twin room. We stayed in a superior double for one night and a standard double for the other. The superior was lovely - quiet and spacious yet cosy. The standard lacked space and was at the front of the hotel on the ground floor so was a bit noisy from the road and corridor.
The hotel is a bit dated and slightly shabby.

December 24, 2011Breakfast serving staff very good.
When we arrived late on 20th, the person on reception told us our room - no. 71 - was in the basement. We went downstairs and couldn't find it! So we had to come upstairs again to ask. then he couldn't find it!! That's appalling. We were so tired - been at a wedding all day and evening - and walked from clifton College to the hotel in pooring rain, so just wanted to get into our room and sort ourselves out. Felt the room price of £64 was excessive, given that the room is a coal-hole and not especiually nice. Couldn't work out how to change temperature of shower water, so ended up destroying my hair by washing it in near-boiling water. Not sure that room meets health and safety requirements - eg. door surround not ok - my husbund would know, as he is a fire marshall at work.

December 17, 2011Staff nice and friendly, rooms warm and clean. Location perfect for my interest. Excellent price/quality.
Unfortunately there's no restaurant service available apart from breakfast, but there is a restaurant just 50 metres up the road (average) and guests from the hotel get 20% discount

December 14, 2011Price; bathroom adjacent modern clean
Room poor on decoration. Size should be made clear at time of booking. Breakfast not well cooked. Too many tables in too small space. But the restaurant you own and recommend was racks, was not good. Food average, obvious mico cooked. Menu not clear on what included. Waitress misleading. Happpy to amplife.

December 12, 2011I had a very pleasant stay in the Washington. Staff were exceptionally efficient and pleasant. They were unfailingly helpful; nothing was too much trouble for them. Breakfast was excellent. I loved the real coffee with cafetiere, real tea and hot chocolate available in our room. They have the very sensible system of asking guests to indicate if towels needed to be changed daily or could be reused. Racks, their restaurant had excellent service and interesting deals - but their ravioli could have been better!! I'd thoroughly recommend the Washington to anyone and would certainly return there should I have occasion to go back to Bristol.

December 12, 2011Not a lot! It was unclean, uncomftable and far too hot - we had the window open all night and were still unable to cool it down. A terrible nights sleep.
The room was dirty and had not be cleaned well at all. The decor was shabby. The bed was uncomftable. The room was like an oven and even with the window open in December was unable to cool down.

December 12, 2011Wiithing.n walking distance to shops, restaurants, cafe's and bars. : (he breakfast was very good, plenty of choice well cooked English breakfast it. Was vert tasty.
Being woken up at 4.00 am by loud music playing in next room. There was no double glazing on windows to reduce the noise from the very busy road outside. Which was very loud when trying to sleep.
