December 30, 2011Loved the building and architecture and the walks. The room and bed were very comfortable.
Lack of services due to the hotel being focussed on Christmas preparations as we specifically booked the hotel as it advertised leisure facilities which we were told on arrival were closed. Staff were inattentive, quite dismissive and seemed unaware of how to provide a personal service. There were no draught larger or other beers available in the bar.

December 21, 2011Having stayed at the hotel before I find the hotel an excellent place to relax, the staff are very good, the Spa is excellent and the food is good.
There are only really a couple of things which could do with some changes if possible. The bar area is very small and lacks any atmosphere because of this, also the Fine Dining area is also very small, it's best if you book a table in advance to avoid disappointment. The menu does not appear to change either in the Fine Dining area we went in August and the menu was the same in December. Fine dinning should be seasonal, a week before Christmas I was expecting a more Christmassy menu and more decorations around the place. The building is beautiful so would expect more Garlands instead of just the odd Christmas tree dotted around.

November 15, 2011The environment, food and attention to detail was excellent, the organisation was exceptional. The standard of the staff overall was very very good, but, only what we would expect for the standard of the hotel and overall costs
Price of the drinks.

December 30, 2011A well tended hotel with good design, period art work and furniture. Pleasant staff and a good breakfast. Not bad value at all - would be happy to stay again when we're in the area.

December 13, 2011I stay here whilst visiting family, it's a great Hotel. The staff are young and sometimes don't appear to know what they are doing or don't listen. The rooms are fabulous. The restaurant is over priced for mediocre food. I haven't used the spa as it's so popular it's difficult to get an appointment at short notice.
It's a great venue. Staff bit relaxed but overall ok

December 1, 2011Lovely location and The Hotel looks great. the food was good and the staff efficient and friendly.
Very minor issue - limited veggie choice on evening menu, They also use a lot of paper for giving out various info etc (more environmentally friendly to use less!)

October 27, 2011The staff were excellent, very friendly, helpful and polite and looked happy in their work.
Bathrooms could do with a bit of updating, tiles looked old and were not dirty but had black marks on the grouting. Food and wine was very expensive, however excellently cooked.

October 6, 2011First impression, the building is incredibly impressive, the grounds are beautiful. The staff are polite, pleasant, and professional, obviously communication features high on the staff development programme. The whole front of the House Team are a great asset to the Management Team. We stayed there pre and post a family wedding celebration. The food for the wedding was superb, as were the breakfasts. However, the food in the Terrace restaurant left a lot to be desired.
There are major house keeping issues, which you would not expect to encounter in hotels charging significant amounts for an overnight stay, all of which have been fed back to the hotel, I await their response. The restaurant food left a lot to be desired, as did the quality of the wine, not to mention the extortionate prices charged for all drinks. Providing the hotel addressed their housekeeping issues, along with the quality of the food in the restaurant, and the drinks prices etc, I would recommend as it is a beautiful setting, and could be a very relaxing break

September 20, 2011The best part of our break was the hotel itself a fantastic building with enormous character and history. The break started to feel special as soon as we approached and saw the building and grounds.
Our stay was excellent and I wouldn't be too quick to make any criticism. However If I looked for things, the large king size bed was actually two single matresses joined together so had a dip in the middle and for a hotel of this nature we found the menu and drinks selection a little limited I.E. they didn't have a pear cider just one brand of apple cider. All in all though it was a fantastic place.

September 16, 2011I booked this hotel as a Golden Wedding Present for my parents who have informed me that it was absolutely fabulous. The staff were extremely friendly and made them feel extra special. Little touches like a card in their room congratulating them and a complimentary glass of champagne with their meal. They thoroughly enjoyed their stay and couldn't recommend the place enough. They descibed it as clean, spacious, homely with a lovely atmosphere. Thank you very much.

Although food was excellent, terrace menu not particularly to my liking and a little expensive.

September 5, 2011Secluded but close to the city, excellent restaurant staff. Good breakfast with focus on quality of ingredients. Calm hotel environment and beautiful setting.
Very poor reception experience - disinterested staff and unacceptable wait with no duty personnel. Noisey corridor activity from 8am at the weekend due to cleaning staff prevented sleeping-in.

August 30, 2011The service from the staff was excellent and the overall ambience of the place was superb. The rooms and furnishings were top quality and the restaurant staff should be congratulated on their professionalism in dealing with a particularly awkward couple without losing their temoers!!
The location is beautiful but there is little else within walking distance nearby. Not a problem though...there's no need to leave the site!

August 24, 2011The New Hall Hotel & Spa is a fantastic hotel with friendly and informative staff. Set in wonderful grounds with many activities at hand, our only regret was that we did not stay long enough to enjoy them. The food was both well presented and tasty. The chefs were able to accomodate our dietary requirements without fuss. This was a truely memorable stay and I would recommend the hotel to anyone staying in the area.

August 23, 2011We liked the relaxed atmosphere from the staff, the location and the grounds the hotel is situated in. It was a personal journey for me as I was returning to the place I stayed in 40 yrs ago. My gran was head cook for Sir Alfred Owen at the time . I used to go and stay in what is now the Tapestry room. I met Lady Owen several times and walked the dogs with her. It was great to revisit and see how things have changed. It was my first visit since 1970s
