This was a very safe hotel in a quieter area close to many services (a shopping mall & theatre next door). The rooms are impeccable & very up to date! I used bookings.com and received over 50% off the room rate, I don't think I could have otherwise stayed here! So I was happily surprised with this little gem!
I utilised transit only in Porto and it was difficult to get around from the Mercure without calling a cab! If I had the time I walked to the caves/bridge but I would be gone all day just because it wasn't easy to come and go! This hotel is best suited to a business traveller, someone with a vehicle or with an expense account!
