    "The location was at the end of the Royal Mile, in a quiet scenic area, and within easy walking distance of many shops (mostly tartan kilts and scarves etc) and bars of the 'old town'. It was just a stonesthrow away from the Scottish Parliament, Holyrood Palace. Mother Earth and Holyrood Park. The 'new town'(all the modern high street shops) was a little further away with a hilly 15/20 min walk, but there were usually taxis across the road." (99316833)

    The food was nice and good quality. The pool was big enough. The staff were mostlt pleasant and helpful.

    The evening meal service was slow (3 courses). Drinks were quite expensive.

    "Pleasant modern hotel, good location, for the price of the room (pretty expensive), expected to be faultless but wallpaper ripped on wall and marks on the carpet - disappointing." (107114187)

    Modern clean hotel, friendly staff, great location as we were attending a wedding at our dynamic earth just across the road. Also only a 15 min walk into town and 5 min taxi ride to train station

    Wallpaper peeling off one wall, room quite dark, although "fluffy robes" provided, 1 could not be used as loop for belt missing.

We would recomend this hotel to friends & family who en joy walking as the hotel is some distance from the centre of Edinburgh. The D,B&B ws a very good option ,excellent quality & value for money.     "The staff in this hotel are fantastic, polite friendly and very helpful. We had a couple of problems with dinner on the second night but they were delt with perfectly and did not spoil our enjoyment. My partner and I both work in hotels and wish we could find staff this good!" (99382970)

    evening turn down service is great.

    Our room was located too close to the lift and a rather creeky door!so noise from other guests did wake us too early.

    Every single member of staff was very courteous, friendly and helpful.

    Some sort of alarm went off in our room at the time when we were meant to check out, presumably to remind us to leave. Think this was a bit rude!

    "We enjoyed the stay immensely, being on the 6th floor which was quite exclusive and having the facility of the pool and the butler service was quite a thrill (I really liked the champagne in the Library bit !), although because we were only there for a short time, we didn't get to use as many of the facilities as we would have liked. All the staff we came across from the ladies who turned the beds down to the reception staff, were very polite and couldn't do enough for us, they all made us feel very special." (99482286)

    "The hotel was great, the only concern we had on our stay was regarding the treatments we booked. The spa tariffs had gone up by at least £10 which we weren't informed about prior to the treatments taking place, only upon recieving the bill. This was handled very well by the Beauty Therapist who was very understanding and arranged for the difference to be removed from the bill. Overall this did not ruin our stay as it was handled very well by that one member of staff." (99070548)

    "I was really surprised by the standard and quality of this hotel, the valet parking was excellant. The check in was slow, but I think training was in progress or a manager was trying to assist at a peak time. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were a real asset to the hotel." (99489902)

    good room size

    the carpet in my room and also in the stairwell was stained and worn. Also there was a splash mark on the loo seat.

    "A quality hotel with excellent facilities which deserves it's rating. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food was very good even though I only had the Table d'hote menu.There is limited parking but managed to get a place. Location is good and quiet.     "Genral feeling is that it was expensive for the accommodation offered. Items were added to the room bills which were not used (breakfast, bar tab) and had to be taken off again on departure. I certainly wouldn`t use the rapid check out system as you could end up paying for a lot of unused extras if you don`t check the bill properly." (97284085)

    "The service that I received was very efficient and the staff were friendly and helpful. I was not in the hotel for very long, but whilst there I was very pleased with with all aspects of the hotel and staff." (97293262)

    I was in Edinburgh for the Scotlnd v France rugby international and was only in the hotel for a short time at night, sleep and breakfast. In the time that I was there I felt that everything was very satisfactory and could not find any fault with the hotel and staff.

    "Upon arrival and throughout our stay the staff were all helpful and friendly. The facilities at the hotel were good, we used the pool and steam room one morning and that was very nice. Had I been staying longer I may have booked a treatment. I would definately want to return, if not to this specific hotel to another in your chain." (97909229)

    The rooms were very comfortable and well equipped. Whenever I needed the slightest assistance staff were more than helpfull. Even when I couldn't get the shower to run warm!

    I would have liked to had breakfast at the hotel but at £17.00 per head I thought it rather expensive. I feel this was the only draw back.

    "Directions to the hotel could have been clearer - fortunately we were familiar with Edinburgh. Parking was a worry but it was made simple by the hotel procedures for valet parking. Room had everything we needed. We were unaware of other guests. Meals were excellent, menu was varied, wine list was extensive. Leisure facilities were adequate. My wife heartily recommends the beauty treatment offer. Hotel location was convenient for central Edinburgh." (99162642)

    Problems with pool pump meant that the water temperature took the breathe away!

    The hotel is nice and clean through out and the use of the gym / health suite is great.

    The room rate is high considering breakfast is not included in that rate. I have stayed here previously at a lower rate with Breakfast included. This reduced the value for money that I felt Iwas getting.

    it was homely, placed in a quiet area, staff were hospitable,pleasant and helpfull.

    the TV channels in the rooms were very limmited to few local channels, additional international satellite News and commedy show channels would have been informative and delightful, I would also appreciate an internet connection in the room. also adding a simple breakfast to the rate of room would have been appropriate, a sum of fifteen pound sterling breakfast rate was very expensive.

    Large and well-furnished rooms, well-maintained public spaces, polite and efficient staff.

    Complimentary bathrobes had clearly been used by heavy smokers and had a very unpleasant smell of smoke to them. A late night fire alarm was a minor irritant but was handled efficiently and undramatically.

    "We had a very relaxing stay at the Holyrood Hotel. It was a bonus to have a free upgrade to a junior suite. Staff were very helpful and look after guests well. I would use this hotel again for a weekend break in the city." (97218848)

    I particularly liked the location of this hotel. It is located in a quiet, but very convenient area of Edinburgh.

    I was a bit disappointed with the swimming pool, which in my opinion could do with a bit of a face lift.

    The staff were very helpful and friendly, especially the new girl on reception. Also the young man who helped me with my luggage.

    1. I do not like to have to pay extra for internet access when the room costs so much. 2. Cheap TV with only 5 channels and lousy picture. 3. Dirty bathroom floor, which was not cleaned throughout our stay. 4. Did not receive a newspaper on any of the mornings, even though I notified reception. 5. The breakfast was far too expensive, especially when all that was ordered was bacon and eggs, which cost £15.75 - terrible.

    Nice, spacious rooms, mini bar - you don't have to phone room service for a drink - the executive lounge is nice and relaxing, the restaurant is very good and the service is excellent.

The only thing letting it down was the congestion in the restaurant for breakfast where the system perhaps needs to be looked at.     All of the staff were extremely friendly and well trained and really made us welcome

    The room (701) was very noisy due to the air conditioning fan(?) in the carpark. View was a bit sordid.

    We enjoyed the hotel alot, staff were very frendly and helpful. very clean and in a good quiet location but walking distance to all night life and shops.

    It was pretty expensive to stay in the hotel for a drink and mini bar was really really over priced.The car park was expensive seems as it is below the hotal and cost no more for the hotel as in extra land to occupy.

    The hotel was in an ideal location and very friendly with a relaxed atmosphere, particularly liked the fluffy dressing gowns

    Couldn't get the shower to go on hot so had to have a cold shower.
