Hotel Description

The relaxed and friendly Oaklands House has a heated pool, licensed bar, free Wi-Fi, air-conditioned en suite bedrooms and parking.

Scenic Brading Downs is a short (uphill) walk away, and fishing on the River Yar is a few metres away. The friendly village pub, The Yarbridge Inn, is just across the road.

The heated swimming pool is open most afternoons (June to September) until dusk. A light continental buffet-style breakfast is included in the rate. Minimum booking is for 2 nights. Rare red squirrels come to the garden to feed - so no pets allowed. Please note that Oaklands is adults only (over 18s).

Oaklands featured in the 2006 Sunday Mirror article, 'The Best of British at Bargain Prices'. Oaklands has again been awarded 5 stars by IW Council for food hygiene standards and has 'Gold' status from Green Island Tourism.

Computer facilities:
Should you have forgotten your laptop, one is available for guests' use. This computer is available free of charge and is in the bar lounge.

Guest privacy:
We respect our guests' privacy and will only enter guest rooms on request (or if an emergency occurs).

Non-residents:
Only registered guests are allowed in the bedroom area. Friends of hotel guests may be entertained in the bar. They cannot use the swimming pool.

Parking:
Providing good sense is used, our car park can accommodate approximately 10 cars. However, if the car park is full, alternative free off-road parking is available nearby.

Restaurants and Bars

The continental-style breakfast features organic, fair-trade and local Isle of Wight produce wherever possible. Breakfast is available from 07:00 to 10:00. It includes cereals, yoghurts, croissants, bread, toast, preserves and cheeses. Fruit juices, teas, infusions and filter coffee are available to accompany your breakfast. A breakfast tray can be provided on request if you require breakfast earlier than 07:00. You may have breakfast outside on the terrace or take it to your room. As Oaklands House has a residential licence, the bar lounge and terrace are open during the day (when we are on the premises) and on most evenings until 23:30. An honesty bar/fridge is available 24 hours a day.

• Extra Charges: 17.5 % VAT is included. Service charge is not applicable. City/tourist tax is not applicable.
• Children and extra beds: Children cannot be accommodated at the hotel. There is no capacity for extra beds/cots in the room.
• Cancellations: If cancelled up to 4 days before date of arrival, a fixed amount of GBP 60.00 will be charged. If cancelled later or in case of no-show, the total price of the reservation will be charged.

Important Information

You can pay by cash or debit/credit card. Cheques are not accepted. We advise taking travel insurance to cover late cancellations or no-shows. For same-day reservations, check-in is by prior arrangement only. In order to maintain a peaceful and tranquil environment, we will not accept bookings from hen or stag-type parties. If you are reserving more than 3 rooms, please provide further information about the nature of your group, as they will not be accepted without prior discussion with hotel. We reserve the right of refusal upon check-in. Guests with mobility problems should note that there are 3 steps at the front door, 3 steps to the terrace and approximately 9 steps down to the pool area. We do not charge VAT. The pool slide is not available for guest use.

Directions

The Isle of Wight has excellent public transport links, including a good bus network with a 24-hour service. Rover tickets can be purchased from the bus driver. By Bus (from Ryde): There is a bus stop approximately 50 metres from Oaklands. The numbers 2 and 3 buses run regularly from Ryde. Ask for Yarbridge. By Bus (from West Cowes): There is a bus stop approximately 50 metres from Oaklands. Catch the bus from the Red Jet Terminal to Newport Bus Station. Then take the number 10 bus direct to Yarbridge. You can book tickets from West Cowes. By Train: Brading Station is a 12-15 minute walk from Oaklands: - Leave the station and walk up the footpath opposite the telephone box. - Continue through to Station Gardens. - Continue to the main road. - Turn left. - At Yarbridge, turn right. - The entrance is on the right. Sandown Station, which has a taxi rank, is approximately 5 minutes away by car. By Cycle: Cycles can be taken on the catamaran, car ferry and island train (all free of charge).
