"very good, good value and great food in jennys!" (97685214)

jennys food was brilliant. Staff were also great very friendly and helpful and polite. Food was fresh to high standard we had carvery one night and breakfast full english. Mum and i were very pleased and were full up afterwards! great value for money too! The hotel looked great inside and spacious. was a little hard to see from outside as club was promoted more and we walked past hotel several times to find it! but iover all we had a good time. we came up to go to a childcare event over 2 days in the gmex.

the room i had requested was non smoking but on check in we had to settle for smoking room which stank and the whole corridoor too! the room was noisy at night with disco below and there was a glass shutter door missing to block out the sound of the traffic. One of the ligts didnt work either.

    Staff friendly and efficient

Room a little tired, bed covers faded and divan bases scuffed with dirty marks.

It was comfortable and clean. The hotel itself is very beautiful, reminiscent of the old days of luxury decor.Staff were polite and helpful.

The only inconvenience was that because t.v.s were being retuned our own set was not receiving BBC and ITV channels. Not a major problem.

"When we arrived we queued for 30 mins. Then when finally with the receptionist was told our booking was not in the system? I produced my written confirmation and reference number (from Brittania direct not a third party agency). The poor girl tried to resolve but could not find a double room? I told we had purposely booked a suite that accomodated 3 as the web details told us there was a double bed and a single bed? My wife did not travel due to illness so there was only my son (21 years old) and I - we needed 2 beds? This is when we got back to a suite but only a smoking room (did not notice until we walked through the door?). We were also billed for full English Breakfast (on top of the £215 room charge) at £10.95 each whereas we only had cereal and toast plus tea for me only? I did not notice this at check out as I thought breakfast was included (only in USA have I not had breakfast included?). Sorry but having looked forward to the experience in Manchester for the first time I was dissappointed. In London I stay at the Waldorf or the Park Lane Hilton at less cost (£199 usually) including breakfast?" (97195819)

    Room was spacious

Booked a non-smoking room but was given a smoking room. No choice so the compromise was we had to spray with air freshner. The smoke is ingrain in everything - not happy at all. Especially at the inflated price.

    Great location, and big rooms.

The shower ran hot and cold, also the hotel has an ironing room with two irons for the entire hotel, instead of having one in each room.

"I stayed in the hotel previously and found it to be a lovely hotel, centrally located, with good food and helpful staff. This was the main reason I choose to stay there again. However, on this occation, none of the sockets in the room worked, nor did the tv, kettle or hair dryer etc. When we told reception, we were told they would notify maintaince. It was late on my second and final night before these were fixed. Hence, I did not have a phone charger or any other facilities. Also, it was christmas time and there was a private functions being held and the resturant was closed for me.This was a huge inconvienance for me." (97482981)

"A conveniently located hotel for the centre of Manchester that has known better days. If you like architecture, then the wrought iron staircases are worth a stay to see. Apart from that the hotel has little to recommend it. Overall it was adequate for the price. It is a shame really as the place could be made superb with a lick of paint and better staff and management. Also being in the centre of the city, it can be noisy at nights." (97288152)

Architecturally, the hotel is magnificent but sadly the decor needed a little refreshment.

Severla spects. The check-in and check-out process was much longer than at most hotels. We had a queue of 3 people with only one receptionist attending. The rooms had had their central lights removed and hence were quite dark. The lifts were inadequate for ahotel of its size.
