from Fareham , GB  on  December 22, 2009

"Very pleasant overnight stay. We have stayed at the Campanile about 6 times in the past 8 years and each time has been the same. On each visit our pet Sheltie has accompanied us with never any problem. " (108525835)

Reception staff charming. Sunday morning breakfast excellent. Everything in the room worked fine

  • 4/10 Ann ( Same sex couple)

from Raeding , GB  on  December 10, 2009

"It was not a good experience. if i had known the rooms were outside i would not have booked. the room door had no security chain and i felt very vulnerable." (108145375)

staff would not show me where my room was when i couldn't find it and would not bring extra tea abd coffee so i had to go outside in very bad weather after a very long hard drive. It all seemed to be too much trouble

    "Value for money" (108428501)

Helpful staff, clean bed, good shower. Food was good and excellent value.

Decoration of rooms looks tired and dated. Ventilation poor

  • 10/10 Dennis ( Mature couple)

from Halifax , GB  on  November 2, 2009

"Other than the signage, the hotel was good. " (108707663)

Everyone was very friendly, from the receptionist to the chamber maids.

Was difficult to find. We could not find the entrance, and decided to pull in at a "restuarant", which turned out to be the one attached to the Campanile.

  • 5/10 Kirsten ( Group of work colleagues)

from Southampton , GB  on  September 15, 2009

"Would stay again if I knew the areas mentioned had been rectified. Having stayed at many hotels, the camponile just about met adequate compared to similiar hotels " (108206071)

Hotel was fine, rooms fairly clean and linen was clean and site/area was nice.

We had 3 rooms all together, the 1st room given (81)smelt extremly of stale cigarettes/tobacco smoke. We changed room ( 55) but our colleagues in the other two rooms spent most of the night warding off moths spiders and other creepy crawlies. There were no electric points in their rooms ( 77 and 75)

staff and owners were really friendly, polite and helpful.

Bed was possibly teh worst i have ever slep on, matress beyond expiry date by about 200 years! room to room sound proofing was awful and shower was about as much use as a cholcolate tea pot!!!

  • 8/10 Lorraine ( Mature couple)

"Good, when I go back home to Basildon I always stay at the Campanile as it is not to far from my family." (107326868)

Not to far from the main town.

Not enough plug sockets and being a women will need them near the mirror. When booking on line the customer can only use a credit card and some poeple do not have, and may found this a problem when booking to stay at this hotel.

  • 5/10 Oliver ( Young couple)

from Hartlepool , GB  on  January 27, 2009

"very 'handy' place to stay for one or maybe two nights, no longer though!" (107912919)

Reception and main building were all in good order and quite modern. Nice breakfast.

Actual rooms are very dated and in need of modernosation. Doors and windows do not give complete privacy, lighting is poor.

Convenient for travelling to destination next morning

Bathroom light flickered on and off. Biscuit wrapper had been left under plastic information board on wall. Contadiction in price of breakfast - internet quoted £6.95 - was told had gone up to £7.95 (also £6.95 on info board in room)

"fine apart from the catering as described above" (107711560)

All of the yogurts that were served were out of date and the fruit salad was fermenting!

  • 10/10 Philip ( Young couple)

from Billericay , GB  on  December 31, 2008

"Very good indeed. Suited our needs exactly." (107765419)

Very clean and well maintained room. Pleased to see tea making facilities and soap and shampoo and that they were restocked each morning of the stay. Friendly and efficient receptionist.

Seems a little over the top to provide credit card detail on reservation, checkin and checkout but this was the only (minor) negative.

Good location+local amenities, clean, comfortable beds, flexible with restaurant on site to use as required. Good parking.

Close to busy road-no outlook. Quite basic room. Plain decor- no character.
