The hotel was clean, friendly and had everything we needed for our stay

Mouse trap behind TV stand, towels didnt get changed.

"Whilst trying to find anywhere to stay in festival time in Edinburgh is a pain at short notice, this hotel could have worked a bit harder at making itself value for money. Staff were friendly and it is central but in my room at least cleanliness and general condition were poor. As to stay again, I selected 'no' as there wasn't a 'perhaps' option-for an emergency visit, it's ok and bearable for 1 or 2 nights (hopefully more reasonably priced outside festival time) when travelling alone; but not somewhere for a longer stay or if in company" (108856246)

    Reasonably central, friendly staff.

Room not overly clean-bearable but not of a standard I would have wanted to share with anyone. Shower was not great-leaking flexible pipe meant a lot of force was lost; bathroom felt as if it hadn't been given a proper clean for perhaps a year (by the buildup of dust in corners and in the shelving unit). Was left with the feeling this was one of those rooms they kept for single travellers and ddin't get used much.

"It was worth the money, the hotel is very close to the city centre" (108512985)

Wi-fi, helpful staff, newly furnished bathrooom

Old furniture in the room, dirty window

"Great, friendly staff, standard hotel breakfast except for coffee." (108553551)

I came to see my son's show in the festival - just wanted a comfortable bed, which I had.

Breakfast coffee was disgusting - Tesco's worst.

I was heavily annoyed by the staff there; they said there's no records of any bookings that I made. I was treated with prejudices as well because of my ethinicity backgroud. I totally had a terrible night there, they wouldn't let me check in until midnight. I understand that there are policies of confirming bookings, but no one understands the word 'respect' there.

"We had a very pleasant stay but the cleanliness could have been better. I've stopped in Edinburgh in 4 different hotels and this one by far was the in the quietest area and also very close to the main part of the town. " (107864624)

The staff were very friendly and helpfull and the hotel was in a good location, close to the city centre and in a quiet location.

We stopped for a week and the beds were only made once and the towels changed once. The room wasn't vacumed or dusted once.

It is a great hotel and very central to all the entertainment in Edinburgh. The Playhouse is right round the corner from the hotel. As are lots of eateries and bars.

We did not have any complaints.

"The hotel served a purpose for us thats all i can say about it, the one thing we didnt like was that when we returned after theatre, looking to sit & have a quite drink there were people in the lounge & although my wife was the only woman they tended to swear a bit which cut short our quite drink." (107340255)

    None really

we booked this hotel because we were going to the theatre & it was close by - the first room we were in was quite nice until we looked at shower & the doors were hanging off at the bottom, we got another room it was smaller but ok, the shower in there was covered in black mould at the bottom also when we went for breakfast which was ok, but it came when we were still having cereal & wasnt to hot.

  • 7/10 Jonathan ( Same sex couple)

from Swansea , GB  on  October 28, 2008

"We had stayed at this hotel about four years ago and mistakenly went back there. However to be fair there had been some renovation and the double room was perfectly acceptable. Few hotels seem to offer single rooms of any description." (107511347)

Quite convenient for Princes Street and popular attractions. Quite good value for money in a city where hotels can be expensive.

We were a party of three. The double room was fine, but the bathroom in the single room was very shabby.

Friendly welcome unlike the nearby Osbourne Hotel I stayed at the day before.

In the world of Freeview I was a little disappointed to find only the 5 terrestrial channels available and I think wifi in the rooms would be useful for the business traveller
