"Ok" (107654860)
Easy to find hotel, with ok facilities
Was warned about the food(on late rooms), which to be honest i didn't have a problem with. Although i did have a problem with the way the staff were shouting at each other in the morning. Fol.lowed up by the restaurant manager screching "don't you raise your voice to me young lady..." which is about one of the most patronising things a bloke can say. Obviously hasn't had much managerial training. followed up with "if you two can't get on... one of you will have to leave..." not really managing the situation, especially in earshot of paying customers.

"Generally disappointing stay. I took pot luck on picking the hotel, trusting a few reviews, the fact it's situated in some lovely countryside and the possibility of spending a little over the odds might get me a better quality of hotel (compared to the town centre type, multi-national, chains). I'm sorry, but I wouldn't stay here again." (97793735)
Nice, pleasant surroundings. Check-in was quite easy and I didn't even have to produce any proof of booking on the Internet, or ID. The evening meal in the bar was reasonably hot, and served fairly quickly, even though there was a wedding party in the hotel. It tasted ok too, but shame the portions weren't bigger, especially the sweet, which cost £5 for a chocolate mouse no bigger than an expresso sized coffee cup!
Check-in was typical of many larger hostelries - short, blunt and to the point. No pleasantries from the desk staff. I had to ask for basic directions to get to my room. The room had light bulbs not working, one in the main bedroom light and one in the light above the bathroom mirror. Didn't find out till later that evening but too tired to be bothered calling room service. Also found a bracket broken which was supposed to be holding up the glass shower screen. The room seemed fairly clean though, as it had recently been given a quick lick of paint. Breakfast was pretty poor - all the cooked breakfast foods were kept warm in hot dishes ready to help yourself. The scrambled egg had 'dark' bits in it and the bacon looked and tasted as though it had been steamed - not grilled or fried. The coffee and tea was luke-warm from vacuum flasks. The only thing 'fresh' was the toast delivered to your table, but that was as thin as cardboard. To top it all, there were no pleasantries from the European staff. Not sure if it was due to language or culture barrier, or perhaps because they were over-worked and rushing around. Whatever the reason, the 'personal' touch was lacking, which spoilt this one-off stay.

"£50 odd pound for one night was about right - Room I stayed in was in need of a) refurbishment and b) a new mattress. As previously mentioned the mobile phone recepition is very poor (vodaphone = middle of car park.)" (97430855)
Average accommodation OK for one night
Poor mattress (springs sticking out.) Temperamental shower, very difficult to get it to run warm unless it was turned right down

"We booked this hotel on the recomndation of friends in the area, but they had not visited the hotel themselves. We are experienced worldwide travellers, and as such felt that this hotel offers very poor value for money. The room (especailly the bathroom) is in need of an overhaul, the decor is very old fashioned, and the bathroom is very poor." (97139804)
Location.
Everything else. The room was old-fashioned, the bathroom was in serious need of an upgrade, the staff were off-hand.

"The Wi-Fi connection was very poor in my room - almost unuseable and I could only get a signal on my mobile phone by standing out on the lawn in the driveway (along with 3-4 other guests!) which made this a poor locaction for a business traveler." (3305097676)
A nice country setting for this hotel and well kept real ale in the bar.
Poor mobile phone and Wi-Fi connectivity
