"Disappointing 5 star hotel. Bad publicity on arrival 'stay two nights from £75 per night including breakfast. We paid £109 and £125 for the Sunday and Monday nights without breakfast. OK our rooms were booked separately but the system did not highlight advantage of booking two nights." (97489126)

Breakfast in room came on time, lifts good availability

Room was not cleaned on second day. We were out of the room from 11am until 3pm and again from 5pm till 11pm. We felt that someone had been in the room and used things from the fridge and left the television on. Breakfast in room was disappointing. There was no cured meat as indicated on the booking form, the tropical fruit salad was melon and a square of pineapple and cold milk for the muesli was not supplied as requested.Did not partake of breakfast on the second morning!

"It was close to Piccadilly Station and convenient for the shops. Very clean and modern and the reception staff were very friendly, helpful and informative. The rooms were very pleasant and contained up the minute gadgets and everything you needed for your stay. However the restaurant staff could do with some training in people skills, they were not very friendly or helpful. This could not have been due to how busy they were because we were first in the restaurant at 7.30p.m. because they said they could not fit us in any later but there were tables that had stayed unoccupied when we left at 9.30p.m." (97823732)

Very clean and modern, very friendly staff on reception when we arrived.

The check out time could have been 12.00 instead of 11.00.

Parking wasn't too bad - used Grand round the corner, but would have preferred hotel parking. Staff really helpful with sense of humour. Lovely lounge (serve a lovely Pimms!). Will definately stay again." (97458545)

Comfort, cleanliness and excellent facilities such as online access.

"The hotel and facilities were excellent. The I-mac in the room was great as you had the option to access t.v, radio, cd, dvd, computer mode & internet and 'whats on in manchester' site. Power shower was very comforting after long hours walking day and night. Location and accessibility to all amenities couldn't have been better as you were not very far from city centre 5-10 minutes walk. The metro and bus routes were also accessible." (97662938)

The hotel location and facilities were excellent. The imac in the room was great

"The hotel is centrally located with excellent access to all of central manchester attractions and amenities. The decor is top quality and all the fittings are super modern. I would recommend this hotel as an extremely comfortable place to stay, whether for a one night stay or a longer break." (97842186)

Soft lighting, lots of mirors, very modern entertainment system.

The only accomadation left was a disabled room so the wash basin in the bathroom was a bit too low.

Staff very friendly, excellent service, rooms clean and quiet for a city centre hotel, would definately stay again.

Once you work out that you switch the Appple television on with a button on the back and breakfast is expensive.

very modern and high level of fittings.Thought the main window from ceiling to floor was an excellent feature and gave a great view of the city centre.

The tv was abit of pain to turn on,had to ring room service.lighting wasnt adjustable and abit bright.

"The car park that was recommended I couldn't find so perhaps until the hotel car park is completed, a map showing you where the car park is would be useful. However these are minor issues as the main reason I would return to a hotel is the service and I would certainly recommend City Inn for the friendly staff & professional service I received." (97535394)

The rooms are new (hotel built early 2007) so look fresh and clean, rooms are painted in the standard off white walls & beige furniture all very contemporary, I liked the idea of the mini bar with bottles of white or red wine plus also the snacks available. The TV/PC was a good idea although perhaps should have had a remote mouse & remote keyboard.

The room needs some pictures, preferably in colour, and I found you couldn't move the keyboard & mouse very easily.

"Having booked accommodation here in the past for business colleagues, I was looking forward to trying it for myself and was not disappointed. From the efficient check-in with friendly staff my stay continued to satisfy. The standard double room was spacious and finished to a very high standard, including the bathroom with power shower. Even the selection of tea and coffee was more varied than most! Location is excellent for city centre for both business and leisure pursuits. It was a very enjoyable experience which I would not hesitate to repeat and hope to do so in the future. I wholeheartedly recommend the City Inn." (97276985)

Good quality fixtures and furnishings. High standard of cleanliness. Pleasing, neutral decor.

"On the whole the hotel was very good. I do not know if it was just because of the location on the particular room in which I stayed (on the eighth floor) but there was a lot of noise coming in from the corridor outside throughout the night, and I was also woken up six or seven times by a door slamming somewhere close by. This made my night's stay other than restful." (97959264)

Modern facilities in room and in hotel generally.

Dirty and stained carpet in room and what appeared to be extremely thin door to corridor which allowed a lot of noise into room.
