    Excellent wedding reception facillities

    Internet price said £59 per couple and was charged £65 at the hotel

    Average, clean hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. Beds comfy. Breakfast was nice.

    Bar prices staggeringly expensive, but I suppose thats to be expected. Rooms themselves were incredibly expensive. Nice hotel, but not worth what we paid for it at all. Was £100 for one night! would not pay those rates to stay there ever again. Also, the tv was very very quiet and there was a block on turning it up. Problem was, you couldnt hear it!

    Very friendly and helpful staff on the whole

    Check in at reception was difficult due to a very abrupt receptionist who did not take time and make us feel welcome. This was acknowledged by a member of staff who happened to be nearby.

    thought the hotel was really lovely,clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. the breakfast was excellent. the rooms were nice and spacious and also clean

    the only bad point was that we were put in a disabled room. the bedroom area was spacious but the bathroom wasnt really,and the bathroom sink was tiny,but we were closer to the residents bar and dining area which was a good point. also we had an ironing board in our room but you had to ask reception for an iron,which we did but had to wait about 45 mins for it.

    Crisp white bed linen, good sized room. Blackout curtains did their job very well! Very accommodating when we asked if we could keep the room for a late check-out.

    "The hotel was easy to find with plenty of parking. On arrival, we checked in and allocated our room straight away - so within 5 minutes of walking through the door we were in our room. Check out was just as efficient. Unfortunately, we did not stay long enough to use the facilities, but the breakfast was good - both hot and cold. In total the hotel represented excellent value for money. Would recommend staying here as it is in close to proximity to Liverpool City Centre and its shops." (99342241)

    The room was in a quiet part of the hotel as requested. The facilities were of an excellent standard and the staff were most helpful, particularly the reception staff

    The room didn't have a refrigerator in the room as stated on the web site. This was a deciding factor in our choosing this hotel due to our 7 week old baby and her milk. Additionally, all of my card details were shown on the bar receipt when we bought food and drinks. Should I have left this behind I could have been left wide open to fraud.

    being in the hotel trade myself i do tend to pay more attention to detail and it is a pleasure to say i found your hotel very comfortable, the staff were very polite and pleasant the room was excellent and what can i say about that bed!!! it was fantactic.

    "I didn't realize it was a health club facility - but it was really wonderful. My daughters enjoyed the pool and the locker rooms were terrific. We liked the kid-friendly dining area near the pool as well. Both the restaurant and pub were very nice. Only - the outside seating for the pub was filthy. Cigarette butts all over the floor, tables hadn't been cleaned and dirty dishes everywhere." (2701156)

    The bed was great, the in-room tea/coffee was nice, the bathroom was roomy, we had nice connecting rooms.

    No air conditioning and it was so terribly hot that we had to keep the windows open all the way. AND there was incredible noise outside of our room - bottles or glass crashing, people talking, and all sorts of commotion. It was a miserable 2 nights of sleep.

    "The public areas are much brighter since the recent redecoration and the food in the restaurant was far more interesting. The swimming pool in the leisure centre is fabulous and a real bonus in the hot weather. Overall a very enjoyable stay...." (3305036457)

    I was allocated room 109, which is a special disabled facility. The single bed in this room is not very comfortable, nor the light good for working at the desk. I was disappointed as I had booked a double room for single occupancy to avoid this room which I have stayed in before. The double rooms are signficantly better and I will be clearer with my booking next time - or take the time to go back to reception and asked to be moved.

    location / value for money

    Poor in cleanliness - our hotel room had old cigarette stubs behind the TV, which meant it hadnt been cleaned properly before we moved into it. It was also meant to be a non-smoking room ! There was empty sauce sachets on the floor in the lift at 6pm Saturday night, which were still there at 2pm the next day ! Again - no cleaning had taken place! The person on the desk asked us if everything was OK with our stay and when we mentioned these 2 things he just shrugged his shouders - as if to say 'well Ive asked the question so Ive done my customer service training bit !' What's the point of asking if everything is OK, when staff are not prepared to do anything about it when they receive a negative reply? It was very smokey in the foyer - due to the bar doors being open all the time.

    The swimming pool is fabulous

    My request for a dinner reservation had not been accepted by the hotel, which meant that I couldn't eat until 10pm as it was Valentines day.

    "The pool area was under heavy reconstruction, which was annoying as the leisure facilities were the main reason we chose this hotel. The rooms are very tired now with stained carpets and upholstery, yellowed paintwork and dirty looking sheers. The staff are welcoming and efficient.     "On arrival, after a long day at work, I was allocated my room and provided a key minus tag. On arriving at my room with 3 bags I found that the key provided did not fit the door. Fortunately with my mobile I was able to ring reception rather than struggle back down with my 3 bags, and report this. I then waited in the corridor whilst staff sorted the matte (very politely) out. Seems trivia now but at the time I was tired, I had a further meeting to attend and it all felt very wearying and unneccessary. I would recommend the hotel but as a second choice rather than first."     Convenient to St Helens where I frequent on business. Food and drink in the bars was adequate and entertainment provided by large screen TV and quiz. Bed and facilities weren't startling but were comfortable.

    Decor and management of guests. I had to leave my room to ask some younger lads to please keep the noise down.

    More staff on the check in desk. We were left standing for quite some time while the only one staff member was on the telephone. Did not receive the wake up call we booked and as a result of that we missed breakfast.

    Leisure centre was a bonus. Changing rooms were very well maintained. Room was well equipped and clean.

    The reception area and public areas nearby were rather smoky. A n0 smoking policy in all public areas should be implemented.

    "A well positioned hotel, just off the junction of two major motorways and other major rods, without being too noisy if you ask for a room NOT overlooking the road! It is great to have free use of the on-site spa and leisure complex. I thought the 3 different levels of catering (pub, cafe and restaurant) were particulary good, with a wide range of food styles and menu offers, all keenly priced. I visit the area for a week, 3 times a year and I will definitely stay here again." (2772241)

    Good sized bedroom

    Overall, the hotel is looking a little tired. The bathrooms are particularly in need of a make-over. The enamel/paint finish in the bathtub in my room was very marked and rubbed away in many places and the tiling/grouting was also stained.

    "For a single night stay on a business trip this is a very good hotel. It is easy to get to as it is just off the M62 which means you do not have to travel through Liverpool at night to find the hotel. The staff were very helpful and check-in and out was quick and easy. The room was a standard hotel room, nothing special, but adequate for the one night stay. The hotel is attached to a pub and has it's own restaurant so choice of food is good, and the prices are very good. Breakfast is also well worth having as there is a lot of choice.     Location was good as it was very close to the motorway and Liverpool itself

    Temperature of room was very high and no chance of cooling the room down at all. Need fans or air conditioning.

    The menu in the Village hotel chain has changed but not for the best. The menu used to be far more interesting. I choose a selection of kebabs, chicken, pork and lamb but the meat was very dry. Breakfast is fantastic however.

    "the leisure facilities were excellent, and also the pub within the hotel is a good idea and less formal for lunch, good food was served at reasonable prices. the room had tea/coffee facilities which is expected. There was a hairdryer in the room and I would have liked to have known this as I had taken my own hairdryer. We were booked in for an evening meal as part of our conference and this was excellent. on the down side there was a flyer on the bed advertising a return stay at very reasonable rates I was interested in this but then realised that it was out of date by 6 weeks.
