Set within a former coaching inn dating back some 350 years, the hotel is set in the old town of Wiveliscombe, at the foot of the Brendon Hills and close to the Quantocks.

Wiveliscombe acts as a gateway to Exmoor, making the White Hart an ideal base from which to enjoy a range of country pursuits. The surroundings provide the perfect setting for those who love walking and the great outdoors. Close to both Taunton and Wellington, it is also an ideal location for the business traveller who wants a peaceful night's sleep without sacrificing easy accessibility.

Shortlisted as one of four finalists in the Publican Local Food Pub of the year awards 2008, the White Hart provides traditional home-made food, real ales and comfortable en suite rooms, complemented by friendly and efficient service.

Following major renovations the hotel has obtained a 4-star inn rating from the AA, with the inspector commenting that "The White Hart has been transformed and the high standards now offered are a credit to the new proprietor and chef".

Over recent years the White Hart has grown a reputation for serving high quality, home-cooked food and using fresh locally-sourced produce. This is reflected in the menu, which changes daily and offers White Hart pub classics. Booking a table prior to arrival is strongly advised, especially at weekends. Ales from Wiveliscombe's 2 breweries, Cotleigh and Exmoor, are regularly on offer. In addition to this, a variety of other regional and award-winning guest ales are always available.

By road: From the North or South: M5 to Taunton. - From the West: A361 from Barnstaple. - From the East and South East: A303 to llminster, A358 to Taunton. By rail: To Taunton Main Line Station (2 hours to Paddington, under an hour Exeter and Bristol) and then by Taxi or Coach. By air: Regular Services to Bristol and Exeter Airports.
