The family-run Arnold's Hotel is at the base of Horn Head in dramatic North Donegal. It is noted for its warm welcome, good food and friendly Irish atmosphere.

Arnold's is nestled in the village of Dunfanaghy and is an ideal base for exploring the scenic mountains, deep glens and towering sea cliffs of north-west Donegal. Ards Forest Park is close by.

The hotel has on-site horse-riding stables, and can provide reduced angling permits, a free walking booklet, and reduced green fees for a local golf course.

The area is home to Muckish Mountain and 3 local brown-trout fishing lakes: Purt, Sessiagh and New Lake. Unwind and enjoy the peace of the scenic landscape of Sheephaven Bay.

Open from mid-March to 3 November.

Weekend activity breaks in photography, creative writing, wine tasting, and week-long painting holidays are available.

The recipient of an RAC 2-Ribbon award, Arnold's offers access to lake and deep-sea angling.

The riding stables caters for all levels of experience, with beach rides and day-long trails. A visit to Glenveagh National Park is a must.

Dunfanaghy (1 km) - The north-western corner of Donegal (known as Sheephaven Bay) is an area of magnificent contrasts. The village itself boasts a fine selection of art and craft shops, from hand-turned pottery on site, to quilts made to your own specifications. Glenveagh National Park (35 km) - Glenveagh National Park lies along the Derryveagh mountains on the North-West coast, and its magic derives from the fact that here is one of the last places in Ireland to be influenced by man. Ards Forest Park (6 km) - Situated on the N56 between Creeslough and Dunfanaghy, Ards Forest Park is probably the most beautiful and certainly the most varied of Ireland's forest parks. Bloody Foreland (70 km) - Bloody Foreland is situated in West Donegal. The rugged beauty of this panoramic vista has commanding views over the Atlantic Ocean. Renowned for the stunning sunsets in the long summer evenings, they leave a lasting impression never to be forgotten.

British Airways and Ryanair operate scheduled flights daily. By Public Transport: Direct coach services to Dunfanaghy are available from Belfast, Dublin, Galway, Sligo and Glasgow.
