This 15th century coaching inn, situated just on the edge of the New Forest on the A36, has been welcoming hungry travellers ever since 1430 and is steeped in history.

Today it is a family-run free house with an elegant rustic interior and a pretty terrace garden. The Shoe Inn is renowned for its quality home-cooked food and is the perfect retreat for a relaxing weekend away or a comfortable overnight stop. Each of the charming en suite bedrooms are situated on the first floor and are equipped with a colour television and tea/coffee making facilities.

Your hosts at the Shoe are Jeni and Aart Noordijk. Every lunchtime and evening there is an appetising choice of homemade soups and starters, varied main dishes and some irresistible homemade desserts.

In good weather, you can enjoy your meal in the attractive beer garden. The Shoe Inn is a free house and has a good selection of draught beers and lagers. At any time, you 'll find 3 real ales on tap and an extensive choice of wines, spirits and all the usual popular beverages.

Entertainment includes pool, dominoes, acoustic blues, Irish and folk music on Friday evenings, blues and rock on Sunday evenings.

Well behaved dogs are welcome in the bar.

The Shoe Inn offers a very wide range of quality dishes, including pasta, fish, steaks and Thai curry. Breakfast is served between 07:00 and 09:30. Lunch is available from 12:00 to 14:30 (Monday to Friday) Dinner is available from 18:00 to 21:00 (Monday to Friday) At weekends, food is served from 12:00 through to 21:30.
