    "A great location and an adequate hotel but could and should have been a whole lot better for the price." (107357812)

    Location was excellent for the events we were attending in Cardiff. The staff were friendly and helpful.

    The room was in need of a refurb - peeling paint and wallpaper and dirty grouting in the bathroom. Breakfast was no more than adequate - not nearly as appetising as the menu made out. Overall I would say the hotel was very pricey for what you got.

    Lovely building and the location was ideal for a young family. The room was spacious and clean with a good en suite bathroom. The staff were very helpful and courteous.

    Being an old building some parts were a little scruffy. We would have preferred to be able to have the windows open rather than rely on air conditioning which was quite noisy.

    Cost of £59 B+B for a double room was the best point. Room was compact but perfectly ok and very comfortable.

    Excellent room decor. Convenient for city centre.

    Shower not very powerful. Noise from streets below.

    Large room - Child made to feel welcome - great, helpful receptionist. Great value - good breakfast. Central location which was not noisy despite the active nitelife!

    Needed instructions on how long to run water for in the old building before getting any hot water - OK once we sought advice and left it running!

    Nice Breakfast. Good location. Impressive lobby

    Booked two double rooms and were given one double and a single, had to go back and request a change. One of the doubles was a nice size, the other was pokey witha lovely view of the roof! We had one face towel and one bath towel in total so had to share. In general room seemed a bit run down...e.g stiff bathroom door, hard to flush toilet. Nothing major, but expected a bit more for £89 a night.

    "As mentioned, the air conditioner was broken in 205 so my father had to change rooms. 219 was on the inner part of the hotel and much quieter, but no one warned us that there would be an increase in the room rate until we saw the bill." (107605545)

    New furnishings, floor, close to Cardiff castle (right across the street), close to pubs and restaurants

    Very noisy at night, even at 3am, if you are at the Castle Street side of the hotel (205, 221). Reception always very busy. Air Conditioner broken in room 205 and couldn't be fixed.

    shower was good high pressure and high volume big flatscreen television breakfast was good

    frame of the window was nearly broken, dangerous to open because the glass was coming off. curtain in the shower is very uncomartable, glass should be the current status view out of the window was horrible (air conditioning with tubes)and noisy.

    Reception Staff were very friendly and polite - though reception did seem understaffed for the volume of guests.

    Breakfast was very disappointing in terms of choice - particularly in view of the cost.

    Good location, reputation and external appearance.

    On going decorating was at expense of ease of access for clients. Room quite small and a little tired. Check out was slow even though only 1 other person checking out at same time.

    The value for money was very good.

    Excellent location, helpful staff, impressive building (exterior and interior), clean & well-appointed rooms.

    I thought that the charge for wireless internet in one's room was rather high. Also, several items at bbreakfast were not as hot as could be expected.

    The hotel was lovely and so centrally located. Our room was very comfortable. The staff members were efficient and cheerful. The breakfast was varied and plentiful.

    One very small point. I would have appreciated an alarm clock in our room.

    "When I found I could book an inexpensive room at this hotel I was initially suspicious that I would find hidden costs. There were none and I still can not believe that such a nice hotel, plus breakfast was so cheap. The room was large and very clean. The facilities were fantastic and the staff were very helpful when dealing with queries. The location is fantastic and the parking was easy and cheap. I was so impressed with my visit that I would not hesitate in staying at this hotel again. " (107366784)

    "There were two televisions in our room that could not be operated independantly and the shower in the bathroom was very poor. We had to insits on getting the upgraded room I booked and did not get the luxurious toiletries promised in the information." (107563419)

    The entranc lobby is beautiful and promised much

    The decor and furnishings throughout were very worn, the carpet in some general areas was very poor. The selection at breakfast was very limited and the staff did not keep the buffett stocked. There was no selection of fresh breads

    Helpfull staff sorted the booking out, rooms where really nice i put fair down because of the bathroom window

    I booked with Smoothhound on Friday and Receptionist didnt have my booking, I work in IT and there are no excuses for the hotel not to receive my booking i think you should look at your booking system the receptionist told me they would receive it on Monday That made us laugh!!! The Toilet window was stuffed with paper
