    Despite the hotel being next to a dual carriageway and a small retail park the surroundings were very pleasant due to the lake side setting and the design of the hotel with both indoor and outdoor areas overlooking the lake. The gym/spa facilities are a very attractive feature. Its great to have a swim before breakfast. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. The reception area is very pleasant and welcoming.

    Some areas of the hotel looked a bit worn ie one of the lifts and the gym changing room. The room we had, though very spacious, pleasant and well equipped, looked a bit dated and the window needed cleaning (it was covered in bird droppings, no doubt a consequence of having the lake which attracts the birds). There was no power in the room shower yet the gym changing room showers were fine. At breakfast I asked for another cup of coffee but didn't get it. To be fair we were in a rush so didn't have too much time to wait for it.

    Room comfortable especially the bed.

    Breakfast was poor as the hot food had run out and we had to ask for bacon and egg to be prepared. Temperature of leisure pool very cold for children. We also booked through Active Hotels on the internet and there seems to be an issue between their booking system and what your hotel interprets e.g. Active say that children stay free where as your staff think this wrong.

    Pleasant staff very helpful - room a bit tired ditto television. Club lounge bnot what it used to be - noticed no soft drinks coffee maker was out of order with no attempt to supply an alternative - first time stayed in hotel for a number of years

    "First impression at the reception was not a good one, though the staff were very pleasant. We found that the reception counter was dirty and sticky, along with most of the tables in the restaurant. The plates in the restaurant had a film over them and the breakfast, although plentiful, was barely warm. It appears that there is no attention to detail, and my general opinion is that the overall upkeep of the Hotel is sliding down hill. Obviously was a good hotel at one time. " (108972664)

    spacious hotel Easy to find

    No simple salad on either menu for bar or restaurant. Only sandwiches , burgers ,pizza. No healthy options. Pricy menu and extortianate price of £15.75 for a breakfast. Dreadful noise of speeding cars all evening in local retail park. screeching tyres and motors revving. Obviously a playground for teenage drivers

    Nice hotel easy to find and staff friendly. Always happy to help.

    Told the wrong price on numerous occasions, impossible to book through internet as everything went wrong, up till check out was in confusion and quoted the wrong price unless i could prove that it was wrong, which i did and was then told it was someone elses fault and asked to apologise. Every other staff member fine.

    Staff professionalism - overheard 2 customers being rejected meals/ drinks on their room account as it wasn't covered - fair enough but bar staff could have dealt withit more discretely.

    We thought when we booked on-line that it included breakfast, but when we got there, they said no. We thought it was too expensive, and ended up going out for breakfast.

    Booking/Reservation should not take credit or debit card details and then Confirm or Authorise the booking if the fee has not been debited off the said cards account This proved to be very embarrasing when checking in and also very poor considering the details were not needed and had to be taken at the check in

    In need of urgent refurb. Wedding party dominated everything. Poor quality summed up by them allowing a young man in the dining room with no shoes or socks on carrying his towel on way from swimming pool.

    Check-in informative and pleasant hotel ambience good excellent value for theatre break and room v.good overlooking lake-would not have been impressed with room overlooking car park. would be interested to know how rooms are allocated.\service and attendance from staff during theatre dinner excellent.

    None really to moan about although I would have liked at least a choice of a different starter or main course or sweet..the only downside to the stay.Will

    Nice hotel with good facilities

    The hotel had no record that breakfast was included and as I hadn't brought my receipt couldn't show that this was the case. On the documents from the booking and during the booking process it had said that breakfast was included which was one of the reasons we booked - so somewhat disappointed with the booking service

    the hotel reception were effective in sorting out any guest complaint.

    the first checking -in expirence on arrival left a bad impression, however subsequent expirence was able to lay to rest the first impression.

    Rooms were nice, clean, breakfast delicious, everything worked properly, meal in restaurant delicious.

    One guest was put in a room under a noisy generator and couldn't get to sleep till it switched off, service in restaurant very slow.

    Excellent breakfast and staff

    The hotel is now looking very dated and a bit dowdy. Why don't you, as an interim measure, re-whiten all the ceilings and white paint in the rooms? pending full re-furbishment
